SXMATT - ATTAK HELP

2. Anyone greater than 6 feet tall or over 200 lbs, his feeling is the Attack is the way to go. Better ride as compared to the 121.

Depending how you ride, so I've been told.

If you ride hard through the bumps the Apex is better.
I think you might be on to something, Impala.
See, considering that the Apex/Attak positions you more foreward than the RX-1/RX Warrior did, the smoother-riding nature of the longer skid might no long apply.
The closer you can sit to the middle of the sled, the less you get pounded by the bumps.
Of course, this is all just speculation on my part and I could be completely off base.
However, it would seem to me that its somewhat like a teeter-totter. It doesnt matter how long it is, if you could position yourself perfectly in the middle an 8 foot long teeter totter wouldnt seem to move any more than a 10 foot long one would.

Theory says the longer track helps bridge the moguls created by shorter tracks. Personally I have spent a lot of time on 131's and 136's and do not find that they ride better than a 121 over bumps. The whopping extra 5" of track/rail that is on the ground just doesn't seem to make a lot of diffrence IMO. Now when you are talking about traction and you have 5" x 15" of extra track on the ground, you should notice a bit difference.

Would you rather want to have a corvette or mercedes benz?? Both good but differences. It depends on personal needs and wants. Oh the benz is the Attak . The vette is the Apex. IMO

Candyredrx1, that was bad analogy.... The GT Apex is the limited production sled with the Ohlins shocks on it and the Attack has HPG shocks

As far as where I ride, both trails leading up to Big Bay is where I think I will miss my 121" the most.(how do they even run a groomer through those trails?) Other than that the Attak will shine.

I am going with the attack, but I am still concerned with the weight.

Thanks
Matt
;)!
Install an aftermarket exaust and you'll probably pull to within 10 pounds of the Apex and sound better too ;)!

I hear ya on that one mighty, and then when your filling up leave about a gallon till the top and your right within the same wieght. Also, quit driving thru the drive-thru's at Mcdonalds and BK. That will lighten up the rider wieght. Do this all summer. LOL

Who makes the best aftermarket exhaust and about how much does it run
for cost?

Opinions will vary on the best. I myself like Bender. I paid $449 (I think) last summer directly from Bender.

So Mighty, what does the Bender pipe give you? Light weight, if so, by how much? Sound? and any more hp?

Claimed extra 4 hp. Sounds is like a deep sportbike sound. Sometimes at idle it's like one of those high revving powerboats. Very cool. Weight savings in the range of 13 lb's. I'll probably be getting one for my Attack. So far its got the best sound out of all the pipes I've heard.

Ive gotta disagree with this one. The Apex GT is like a Lexus (with the poor quality of European luxury cars, I cant compare a Yamaha to one), the Apex RTX is like 'Vette and the Attak is like an crewcab, longbed pickup truck.
Mighty, you say that you could put an aftermarket exhaust on an Attak and get very close to the Apex as far as weight goes. :ORC You could put the same exhaust on the Apex and make it almost as like as a 2-stroke, something to think about.
Instead of trying to ram our own personal preferences down SXMatt's throat, why dont we just all stop bickering and let him make up his own mind???

Yo capn crunch, I'll stop ramming the Attak down sxmatts throat if you shut up about that damn ugly Avalon grocery getter. As I have said many times I am speaking from my experiance with these types of sled. Your experiance with Bravo's and Phazers don't do squat here little buddy.

You also lost all credability with me with your crewcab comment.
