Has anybody used a team secondary? I was on their web site and it show they make them for the splined yamaha shaft. Just wondering if anyone makes a complete kit for the Nytro?
Thanks

they will not have anything for the nytro till next season,i had called earlier..they said maybe late in the winter ..but more than likely not
I have one not on a nytro though.
They are excllent backshift but no much top end.
I would stick with the stock secondary or go with a roller from advantage.Ulmer racing carries them.

The Team was built for a 100hp 440. Do not put a team on anything other then a sled in that category!!!
There is nothing wrong with the Yamaha Button Secondary. You can get a lot more out of the primary then the Secondary!!!

Get a clue. Polaris puts a Team secondary on nearly every sled that they produce.

I dont think there is anyone on this forum running one on A Yamaha 4 stroke. I had one and never used it cause everyone that had tested one went back to the stock secondary...
Correct me if I am wrong anyone running one on A four Stroke?

You don't have to say get a clue. He's saying there for back shift (corner to corner)there not made for top end .That's why the polaris's lost mph since they came out with the team on them. There is guys on here that tried the team and didn't like them.

Clutches need to be balanced to work at optimum – and the Yamaha’s primary has been light – up to the 4/’s. However…it was pointed out to me that the new 4/ springs and weights are monsters or heavy.
So – with the 2/ light primary – you would have a hard time getting the Team to work at optimum.
With the light drive – you would have a hard time getting the Team to get to full speed. The other problem few tuners were not aware of was the old 4 bolt team had limited opening space as compared to the new 8 bolt design – which opens further. Another problem is – it’s designed for a wider belt - this raises some other issues. It is also a different angle than the Yamaha belt – or was.
I was away from sleds for a decade or so until about 1999 – nothing new in secondaries really impressed me - except for the Team. Well, I should also say…. the aftermarket Yamaha stock helixes I liked – the finish allowed much better shifting than stock.
Anyway – I further fooled with the Team on a MXZX race sled, and it’s just amazing. In one set up – (turned out to be way too aggressive as it exceeded the limits of adhesion – even engaging at 4800, of the suspension) the clutch came back cold after a heat race….I can usually keep them just warm – but this came back cold…wow.
Once you find the right helix angle you are pretty well set – but I had to find that with a spring combination – so I got many springs and about 12 used helexis – which equals 24 possible angles for the Team (Each team helix has two independent ramp angle). I machined it to open more. The MXZX has a very heavy primary setup.
So – to answer you…. yes – its great – the best – but – you would need to buy many helix and spring parts to find the right shift. The Team is also hard on secondary springs – everyone I tested (used) was below its designed #.
I did drive a stock 4/ Apex last year and the clutch felt OK. There is room for improvement (I’m sure on the Nyto also) but just fine for most of us. I loved it.
One thing is the lower part of the stock weight felt like too much ground off. Revs too much on takeoff. Most all aftermarket ramps are the same for some reason. It was the same on my 00 sled – but Thuderproducts came up with a grind for me that I run today.
We are moving to snow country area next summer – if an Apex (or Nytro) comes my way – I’d try to get a Team on it. But I have the parts….to play.
To save frustration – stick with proven stuff.

I thought the 4 bolt was the newer of the two?

Like good marketing – I think they needed an update – to sell a bunch more. Didn’t they change to an 8 bolt in about 06? Maybe somebody has that date for sure?
They said the 8 bolt had more support.
One more thing – I had to build a bunch of heavy duty tools to get the thing apart without taking my head off. A few of the complete ones we bought…..I couldn’t get the old bolts out – had to drill and tap.
Very time consuming (but rewarding) to work on compared to the old faithful buttons!

I was talking about the Lightweight Team that has a 4 bolt helix. Came out late '05 or '06. They were 8 bolt before this.

OH – OH……. old age sucks –
Your right – they got rid of the 8 bolt for the 4 bolt. As I was writing – I kept thinking of all the bolts I had to remove…..but somehow kept thinking 4 bolts is what we had – I can’t check …..as all my sled parts are sitting in Muskoka freezing in the shed…..
I must have remembered an ad talking about the support using the 8 bolt – in the early days.
Thanks the correction…..same story – different bolts

I come from a strong back ground in Polaris and have always used team secondary on our race sleds and really loved the awesome back shift and responce.
I wasn't sure if anyone was using these on yamaha or not, but I think that set up right it would be a hot ticket!
Thanks for the replys!

I ran a team on my 700 skidoo, and it worked fine. When I bought my new vector rage, I went with a super torquer HCX secondary and a Drag&Fly front clutch kit. I run a stock primary with a 140-400 spring, and the drag&fly kit.I run a red sping in 0 position in the sec. and use a xs801 crossfire belt. This belt is wider than the Yamaha belt, so it rides all the way to the top of the primary, and fully shifts my sec. This is with out a doubt the best back shifting setup I have ever tried , and still gives me great top end . Also I am geared down 1 tooth from stock.
