Ya, take the Ultimax off and put an 8dn back on.

Maybe a little more insight as to why the new belt didnt do the job? Was it the wrong belt? Why did it sit so low?
Crewchief - kind of an obvious answer but I think HRD2PLZ was looking for a little more technical advise....
I'd like to know why it didn't work so that if I were to be looking for a belt I didn't end up with the same $85.00 mistake... JMHO

OK, I'm not the 'expert' on this so you'll have to do some more research yourselves.
The aftermarket belts in general require some clutch adjustment due to them being a softer belt. Because they are softer, and people seldom make the required adjustments, they like to shred faster than the OEM belt.
Don't ask me what adjustments need to be made, I haven't been interested enough on the topic to do any reading. I believe there may be some info in the Racing forum comparing the two belts.
Maybe Turk will chime in here.

If you use the softer belt you will have to lighten up the primary weights to get the same rpm.
pluses for softer belt are
good belt squeeze with less primary weight
negatives are
poor belt life on higher hp sled especially if you ride aggressively

So here's what went down today: went to local dealer and told them of the issue with the stock belt riding low. Sales guy went to the garage and came back a few minutes later and had said they just looked at a new XTX in the back and the belt was low also, a few mm's. He says, this is normal. I said, not according to the service manual. He says it's normal don't worry about it if it's running good. These guys kill me.
Anyway, does anyone have a stock XTX that the belt has not been touched and has about 500-700miles on it? If you do can you go pull the side cover and drive cover off and tell me where your stock belt is riding in relationship to the top of the secondary sheave? Would be appreciated.

my mtx with a new 8dn belt, rides just slightly above the scondary. slight squeel at idle (once in a while, not all the time). pull the secondary off the sled, look at the three screws with washers under them, you add and subtract the washers (shims) to get the belt to ride higher or lower in the secondary. add spacers to raise the belt, remove spacers to lower the belt. there are two thickness of spacers 1.0mm p/n 90201-06037, .05mm p/n 90201-061h1.
85.00 for belt whew! hate to say it but, buyer beware, 8dn lists for about 65.00 with a discount you "could" be about 50.00 otd. ski

No, the Ultimax belt was $85, the 8dn i bought today was $65. I put the new 8DN on tonight after work and it sits within spec. Just wierd that with only 700 miles the first belt was riding down about 2.5 mm. Kept that one for a spare, will try to return the Ultimax
I have agood idea how that will turn out.

I know not exactly the mileage log you were looking for but @ 350 miles my belt is sitting exactly where it was new and still looks the same. I realize that's not a lot of miles but an insight none the less!!
