Temp gauge install on 08 fx nytro

I did a search on this topic and did not find what i was looking for. If you new what wire(s) sent the signal for the stock temp light, would it be able to connect that wire to an auxillary temp. gauge? If not, where is the best place to hook one in? Any photos would be great. Going with Autometer Comp 2. Thankx. Cant wait to ride my new (to me) 08 Nytro

The light wire is not able to run a aftermarket temp guage. The light only gets turned on if the ECU tells it to(its just a light on or off), the signal wire you are looking for goes to the ECU from the temp sensor, i am not sure what wire it is but if you check the wiring diagrams int he manual i am sure it is there.

Thankyou for the info. Obviously I'm not doing something right when I try to search. Still wondering if you could use the stock wire and sensor with an aftermarket gauge. [/img]

I would say no, typically the sensors and wires are designed to operate with a particular gauge. What actually happens is that the sensor has a variable voltage output based on the temp. The gauge uses that voltage to determining a reading, be it digital or analog. So as you can see the gauge needs to be matched to the sensor. Same reason you don't want to splice or extend a temp sensor wire.
