Ok guys, fired up the RTX last night and noticed the temp warning light was on right away. It went off after a couple of minutes of idling but I can't remember if this is normal or not. Don't remember seeing this on the 06 attack? I don't have my manual handy - does anyone know if this is normal? I kind of remember reading that maybe it was and we're not supposed to drive the sled until the light goes off, but then again I could just be dreaming this crap up? Man it's a biatch getting older and suffering for CRS - LOL...
Thanks,

It was probably the low temperature light that was on.
It's the upper right indicator and it remains on until the engine is warmed up enough to safely move the snowmobile.

Temp light
Wow - don't ever remember seeing this lit on the 06 Attack? This isn't the same warning light that comes on when it over heats?

Re: Temp light
My low temp light also comes on for a couple minutes when I first start it until it heats up.
It is not the same warning light that comes on when it over heats. There's another light that will come on in the lower right when it over heats.xcr5 said:Wow - don't ever remember seeing this lit on the 06 Attack? This isn't the same warning light that comes on when it over heats?

If it overheats the generic warning light (lower right) turns on along with an overheat temperature "icon" on the LCD.
temp light
Ok - so the low temp light is above the generic warning light (yellowish/green) that goes on to indicate an issue - ie overheating, low fuel, etc. However; the low temp light will be all that is on, there won't be an indicator lit on the LCD when the low temp light is on.
The temp indicator on the LCD only lights when the sled is actually overheating?
Do I have this right???

I think you have it right.
The top warning light is the cold temp, the middle light is high beam, the lower light is the warning light. When the warning light is on, the LCD indicates what the warning light is on for (low fuel, low oil, high temp, electrical fault - if there is an electrical fault the numerical error code(s) will display also).

When we first start them up, the red light will be on indicating not to move the sled. Once the red light goes out, the sled can be moved. As for overheating, Yes, the yellow light will come on AND, before damage will accure, the sled will turn itself off.

I've heard people say the engine will turn itself off before overheating enough to damaging itself, but I've also been told it will only shut off if it's idling.
Have you ever had the motor shut down due to high temperature while riding it with the throttle down?

REX,
No, only at idle. I would think it would turn of at speed though? Then again, maybe not though. Maybe the manual will say something about it.

Just FYI from racing and having a temp gage, the fan on the Apex turns on at 195° and the light comes on at 210°
