OK, finally got a chance to get out testing the new HMF Eco System for the Grizz. I had 3 Grizzlys that I tested. I will give a description of all 3 then give the results

Grizz #1 - 2003
Mods:
-2 TPI Valves installed in airbox, set to 1 closed and 1 open 1/4"
-ITP C Series on Stock 25" Tires
-Machined Primary and Secondary Clutch
-Spring Spacer mod for secondary
-Stock Primary weights
-EPI Engagement springs for internal clutch

This Grizz had and empty tank and was on reserve

Grizz #2 - 2004
Mods
-2 TPI Valves in air box set like Grizz #1
-Stock Tires and Rims
-EPI Clutch Kit designed for stock tires (minus engagement spring)
-Stock Primary and secondary sheaves (not machined)

This Machine was also on reserve

Grizz #3 - 2004
Mods
-Stock Airbox
-ITP C Series
-25" ITP Mud Lite tires
-Dalton Pink Secondary Spring
-Stock Primary weights
-Stock Primary and secondary sheaves
-HMF Eco System Exhaust

This Machine was basically full of gas, Maybe 1 gallon used.

I Ran all three machines from a dead stop running slightly down hill for .2 tenths of a mile. Machine #3 having the slightly larger diameter tires (taller lugs than stock) im guessing shows 1 MPH Different on the speedo because of that larger diameter. The weight difference between Grizz #3 and Grizz 1 and 2 is appx 47 lbs with Grizz #3 being heavier. This is because of the full tank of gas and tires that cumulitively weigh 12 lbs heavier (total). Keep that in mind. At the .2 tenths of a mile mark Vehicle 1 and 2 showed 65 MPH on the speedo. Vehicle #3 showed 63. I kept on the gas as the road flattened. Vehicle #1 topped out at 67, Grizz #2 hit 66 and Grizz #3 hit 65. On a good downhill, Grizz #1 hit 69 while grizz #2 hit 67 and Grizz #3 hit 66. The acceleration of all 3 felt very similar. Unfortunately I couldnt do any side by side comparisons as I was the only one there. But for the record, Grizz #1 runs side by side Grizz #2 until about 50 MPH then puts 2 lenghts on #2 and keeps crawling on top end, not alot, but enough to notice.

Summary, If you are considering going to larger tires you may want to consider the 25 Mud Lites and adding the Dalton Pink spring along with the HMF Eco System. Turning a heaver, larger mass tire takes more power and thats exaclty what the new Eco System along with the spring provide. Consider these results if they would have all been full of gas. Im sold and will recommend this setup to future customers. Marty Grigg (griggm) will have a good time on his new mud monster and doesnt have to sacrifice performance, plus it sounds really nice. Marty, Your all loaded up and ready to go. I tied everything down and put your stock rims and tires, exhaust and stock spring in the back of the trailer. Your keys are sitting on the top of the left tire. Give me a call tomorrow if you have time. 715-342-1399. Thanks...BBY

My test results....Nice new bark to her with the HMF and wheelies everywhere. I noticed it has better throttle response and more torque everywhere in the RPM range. Top end not tested. This is with 27" Mudlites and a Dalton clutch kit. I do have a little bit of a hard time pullin wheelies from a dead stop but I blame that on the big quad box as I can't get my skinny butt to the rear of the machine. Once rolling all I need is a very small ground irregularity to jounce the front end and the thing will stand on end. Now that's what I'm talkin about !

Matt, this is what I was looking for! Put a tire on that will get me thru some of the mud holes encountered when riding thru the trails/woods which get pretty difficult w/the stock tires and get similar performance to the 2 Grizzley's you and your friend have
been testing with. Can't wait to try it out on Saturday! It sounds
like it might be close to yours on a side by side with the same amount of fuel. ;)! Maybe you guys could come up to the UP some
weekend and do some riding. I'll let you know how it performs after
this weekend.
Thanks - Marty

Great post Matt, I cant wait to get the ECO System on my Grizz....let me know this up coming week

I put on 100 plus miles on sat and the 25" mud lite tires worked
great! the trails we were one had alot of mud holes alot of them
were top of the tire deep and quite long. Only put it in 4wd a few times! And running on the fast sections the pipe /clutch spring/tires
worked as good or better than stock set up w/stock tires. The ECO
slip on sounds great (not load) and the machine runs nice and crisp.
But I did notice when the temp dropped later in the day that the Grizz ran even better. So maybe a jet change might work so it performs like this when it's warmer out. What do you guy's think?
Really like the set-up! Thanks Matt and Kevin for all your help in
getting advise/parts/etc. :D

Me and Matt are still doing some work on these test....grig....K&N would help that jetting thing without yanking the carb...and thats not fun.

yes, I think the K&N might be my next addition to the Grizz ;)!

Here in south central Wisconsin we are at about 800ft. Not sure for Mr Sled as he is a couple of hours north of me. I would guess it's pretty close to the same though.

Have my ECO pipe and will probably get to install it next weekend. HMF is saying no jet change on this pipe, is that what everyone is finding? Has anyone done a plug chop? My riding altitude here in Northeast PA is also between 800' to 1000'. I am running a K&N filter already and I did notice that the machine ran better in the cooler weather last fall/winter.

HMF claims that the core of the ECO slip-on pipe is about the same as the stock pipe so a jet change is not needed. Mine runs very well with the stock jetting but I do notice a diff when the temp
dropped from 78 to around 60. At 60 degrees it felt snappier.

Guess that would lead you to believe it is still running a little rich, which is ok!

I think with the K&N filter it would get more air & that should help?

Yes by adding the filter it will add more air and lean it out a bit.
