Just wanted to thank all you guys who have been first to research things on this sled and share with everyone.

I am not a big poster (hate typing) but I have been wrenching for years and have read every post regarding this sled.

I have a Blue RTX SE

I used the suggestion to cut a bottle down for changing my oil, took half the pressure out of the front skid shock and put on some cat staggered carbides and my sled runs great and I am really having fun with it. Front shocks are working good at 68 pounds. Also, since it looks like there is some debate on chain tightness, I split the difference and made mine 3/4 af a turn out. That was 300 miles ago.

I will probably make other changes in the off season, but I have enough money into it for this winter and will continue to read and see what you pioneers are doing.

I have had a few of the minor issues, (occasional hard start, burned out led's) but I'm not too worried and the sled is still awesome. It will all get straightened eventually.

Thanks again and have a great season everyone.

Sounds good, just wondering how did you take half of the pressure out of your front skid shock?

I assume he followed my post on the XTX and put the spring retaining ring at half way down the shock.

Lol....oh, I was wondering how he took pressure out. I'm thinking fox floats?? I thought they were set up half way anyway. Oh well, mine is almost to the top. Around 1 1/2 inches away from the top. :drink:

Wow ! That's a lot !
I only have a 1/4 inch of preload on my spring

Lol...well I weigh 250 dressed and I love to jump! Plus I like it stiff. I don't want a Cadillac I want a Corvette! I can fly through the trails so the set up is really good. Maybe a little stiff if I'm just chillin, but I would rather that than bottom out!

I put the front skid shock retainer halfway between factory and the bottom of the threaded portion. RTX does not have an air shock in this position. Also, I weigh about 250 and my rear torsion spring is on medium and I have never bottomed out. Of course that may change over time as the spring wears.

One of the reasons I posted up is I'm sure there are other guys like me that can't go buy a 12K sled and then go right out and buy another couple thousand dollars of add ons right away. This sled can be enjoyed right out of the box with a few tweaks to suit your weight and riding style.

I ECHO YOUR SENTIMENTS! Having been away from sledding for awhile and finally in a position to afford an AWESOME sled, the Viper LTX SE was hands down my choice. This forum has been VERY helpful and i too read every post before purchasing. I have had my issues but really nothing big, only coolant leak. I have met some GREAT people (through internet) like ROCK! His patience and assistance are second to none. This site is the best and all of the insight from the numerous experts and life long sledders has been invaluable to me. I want to thank all of you guys for putting so much into this forum and helping us novice guys out! :rocks: :rocks: :rocks: :rocks: :rocks: :rocks: :rocks: :rocks:

We are all here to help, everyone gets ideas from everyone! This site helps everyone! Bit if I help anyone I do it because I love the sport and work my a$$ off all summer to have all winter off. I should have over 2500 miles after this weekend :-o

Is good to hear. You know I put almost 600mi on absolutely stock other than 4 wheel kit. I really had a ball and would not regret if I had to take all my mods off and do it again. The sled is that good right out of box and can be tailored with adjustments to make anyone happy I would think. That guys is what is called a success!

I totally agree, well except for the mods. I guess I just didn't want to mess around this time. I really like this sled and it's way better than the Nytro!
