Well I pulled the sled into the garage and let it thaw all out so I could give everything a good inspection.. I have put 400 miles on the sled myself and it has 780 on the odo total miles...

Patient: 2006 Apex RTX

Past Medical History: Sled has had sparkplugectomy with replacement of plugs with CR10EK plugs. Sled also has had a rear suspensionoplasty with replacement of rear spring with "fat boy spring" and revalve of rear shock. Sled also has had traction applied in the form of 144 studs down the middle

Complications: No surgical complications noted during past
procedures.

Allergies: Patient is allergic to anything with the word "doo" in it, no other allergies noted.

Physical Inspection: Inspected rear skid and found no cracks or damage to arms or rails, current treatment plan is to continue to ride, knowing I have to keep an eye on my rails and front arm. Sled will undergo surgery to reinforce (beef up) the suspension arms this spring.

Inner idler wheels are scalped and have no rubber left on them but they were like that at 300 miles.. Treatment plan: Talked to D&D today and they are gunna replace them for free under the recall since it was never done to this sled. Slides are starting to need replaced, they look to be getting low in places, will address this issue also while at D&D.

Patient Assessment: I remember hitting one rock while turning around so I gave the track a good inspection. Found one bent stud but no pull outs and no broken studs. Track looks new... Underside of tunnel has a couple stud marks but nothin major and looks good. Treatment Plan: Continue to ride sled and keep an eye for broken or pulled out studs. Bent stud will be left in place for now. Risks to surgery out weigh benefits at this time.

Labs: all fluids are at acceptable levels. Im planning on changing the oil at around 1000 miles. It was changed before this season but it had sat for a while before that so Im thinking if there were contaminants in the engine, by the time I ride it for 600-800 miles the contaminants should have pretty much desolved in the oil so I will change it and that issue will be addressed at that time....Treatment Plan: Planning on putting in a good semi-syn since the sled still will only have 1000 miles and I think its too early to switch to full syn.

Recomendations: Anyone recommend a good semi syn oil?? I know yamalube makes a semi syn and that is probably what I will get unless someone has a better idea.. I know Im gunna run a good quality full syn once the sled gets over 2000 miles...

So everything is as expected for a patient of this age and stature.
Next checkup will be due at 1000 miles.

Until then......
Let Those Who Ride Decide!!!

nice report, i'm changing my oil and filter right now with mobil 1 5w20 and k&n kn204 filter, the sliders/hyfax melt fast on these and then stop, i've had the same ones on for over 4,000 mi. with no more wear, the 135mm idlers wheels (6 total) seems to help a real lot, if you have the stock track (ripsaw), the track is not fully clipped, i added slp antiwear pads to it, lets the track glide along, i love the Attak, but it take awhile to get them dialed in but once you do you won't want to ride any other machine

I have same sled with 7000 m. Put an offset kit on to eliminate hyfax wear and a set of pilots, you couldn't be happier

hey SHanks....

are you a Doctor??....great post, made me laugh too.

you are another "well informed" TYer....good work!

Dan

Hey Doctor Shanks-----Write your patient a perscription for AMSOIL formula 4-stroke and he won't have as much difficulty getting up(starting up)in the morning and will be a more chearful patient overall!!!

Transplant chaincase oil--and check deflection now or wait till the 1000mi APEX and DR.SHANK visit..

Rocker, Im not a Doc. only thing Im lacking is the paycheck, I spent enough time in school that I could have been... Im an ACLS-RN. I work in an emergency room in a critical access hospital in the adirondacks. We see our fair share of sledders in our ER. Hopefully not any tonight, there are alot of them out tonight... I had actually just gotten done writing up a progress report on a patient that I had in the ER when I wrote that..... Thought everyone would get a kick out of it... LOL..

Actually if you add it all up I'm a TNCC,PALS,NALS,ENA, ACLS-RN/EMT-B How about that for a title.. LOL... I work the ER at work and ride the ambulance in my spare time. My buds love to ride with me now that Im all qualified in emergency advanced life support. Seams to give them a little peace of mind that I might know what to do if they get hurt... But what if I get hurt.... Im Screwed.... LOL... Hope that dosn't happen...

Whats an offset kit?? Not sure I know what that is... I had the chance to trade a set of stock skis for a set of skidoo pilots and didn't do it... I don't notice the darting too much but I did shim my skis, wish I would have gotten the pilots though..

I also forgot to mention in my original report that patient did have a chaincaseoil transfusion before this riding season, when it was removed the old oil was very milky so I plan to change it again when I do the oil just to make sure its good to go.
