I have done a ton of reading on this and for me it came down to Mobil One. I have used it in everything for a long time with (knock on wood) no isues. Yamalube filter though.
I ran Amsoil Signature Series 0W-30 for 2,500km this winter. Didn't burn a drop. Started well in the cold. Previous to that I ran the Yamalube 0W-30 Semi-syn but I get the Amsoil from a buddy for 10 bucks a quart and feel that it is far superior to the less than 30% synthetic content of the Yamalube Semi-syn. Sled used to get the occasional temp warning after a hard WOT pull on an icy lake or low snow conditions. This year, no warning light under similar conditions. Co-incidence? I've researched the hell out of oil types and came to the conclusion that Yamalube is basically marketed and literature written to scare the average user out of buying a different brand of oil. Nytro engine is really nothing special. No wet clutch to worry about so an oil with friction modifiers will be fine. No slipping issues or anything from the starter (sprague) clutch so I'm sticking with the Amsoil. I run the Yamaha brand filter as most comparable filters are longer and may cause clearance issues with the engine skid plate.
