The sled is still in the crate @ the dealer. I gave him my Nytro as trade in and down payment. He wants to try and sell that over the summer. As for the Apex he will hold it till November and I can pay the balance then. I have to make a trip to see him this week so I'll take a picture of the one on the floor and mine in the crate.
So what things are a must for upgrades? I for sure will be adding HIDs. I had those on my Nytro. Are the yamaheaters a must on the 2012 or does this sled come with handwarmers?
Skis?
Clutch Kit?

Coming from a Nytro myself I will be adding a bar riser, windshield bag and maybe some tuner skis. I am going to ride it a few hundred miles before I add my Draggin Flies

Before i start, im die hard cat guy but still have place in heart for Yamaha, my SRX was fantastic sled. That being said i have yet to ride the 2012 Cats or the XTX. Closest to the XTX would be a 2011 Apex SE i rode last year.
In my opinion it all depends on your intentions and how fast you want to go. From what i have gathered from talking to owners and articles ive read;
Cat-
+ Superior handling
+ By far fastest, a flash and your trail safe 200+ hp.
- Early Production Year
Yamaha
+ Reliability
+ Proven Platform
- Handling/Performance
Personally, Hands down id take the Cat. I would take the Cat as i know id get bored of the stock apex power then want to turbo it. By the time you add forced induction on a XTX your almost double the price of the Cat and without the knock sensor the XTX will be less reliable.
If you have no ambitions of being at the end of the lake first take the XTX, it will last the longest and be the most reliable. I see you may have already made up your mind though so enjoy the XTX great looking sled.

I believe they have knock sensors, but The idea of adding a turbo or getting one stock is alot to consider
They do have a knock sensor. They have good hand warmers now. No yamaheaters needed. Other needed items may be some ski tuning or replacement. Maybe a riser if you are taller. HID lights, and if you have extra dough and
want somthing cool......a sled remote start from kurt is cool. I do not know if the hyfax issue is totally solved(bad on the 2011), but maybe the new dupont hyfax if they don't come with it.

4200 on my '11 XTX. Added HID's, Lake Effect +2 riser, C@A Ultra skis (will be changing these), 1.5 Crossover track and Excell wheels. It still ate hifax with the new wheeels. Due to a dealer screw up, I ended up installing MMax 141 graphite slides at the beginning of the season. WELL, it was a FORTUNATE scew up on their part LOL. Ran 3100 mi. and they are still on the sled. I do have a set of the duponts that I'll be installing in the off season. I'll also be trying the Star kit and revalve. Comfortable , fast, good, fuel mileage, this is a big step up from the 06 Attak I had been riding.

Ahh yes----I think I am going to add a heated seat. I can purchase the whole kit from one of our installers for under $60. I figure if I use it just once during the season it will be worth it!!

If anybody want a AC I would wait until 2014 at the earliest. They do look pretty sick.

How hard would it be to add a heated seat? Never used one before but it sure sounds nice. Where would I buy one?

go to a shop where they install security systems, leather and heated seats. We have a guy who comes around and does it at our shop. It's a waterproof pad that sticks to the foam under your existing cover. The pad draws nearly nothing on your electrical system. Comes with a waterproof hi/lo switch. He has done many four wheelers and motorcycles

UM, with the Exup you won't need that heated seat. There is more heat in the trunk as well. That trunk is probably 1 of my biggest gripes. I carry my own tool roll and with that in there, I can BARELY squeeze my Klim Summit gloves in. Lot more room in my Boss seat on the Attak LOL!!

I am pretty interested in the heated seat too. My wife would love that.
