The Time Has Come

Last spring I decided that I was going to spring order an '06. I will definately be going for the RX-1. Well the new RX-1 will be debuting on Monday so the time has finally come. Since I don't see myself buying a new sled for a long time after this one I want to go all out. I was wondering what you guys had for suggestions.

Put yourself in my shoes...your buying a brand new RX-1 on spring order and you want to go all out. What would you get for accessories...what changes would you make to it right off the floor?

I am thinking to start I will definately get running board reinforcements, maybe do some kind of color scheme with grill inserts, skis, a skid plate etc., a low windshield, and maybe a clutch kit and 13mm sway bar (although I might want to put some miles on it before I do the sway bar and clutch kit). I also want to get some kind of storage arrangement but I am not sure what the best way to go is...I am leaning towards the saddle bags that yamaha has. What would you guys do? I can't wait till monday when I can finally see what I will be riding next year

To begin with, don't count on being the first one in the neighborhood with your sled next year. My wife had money down last April and didn't get hers until she threatened the dealer half way through November to go and buy one off the floor at a different dealer. Don't understand why Yamaha doesn't put a priority on the early depositers.

Next, ride it through the break in to make sure it is what you want and then SPEND AWAY.

you will want to see the sled first before running out to buy stuff you might not need. things like tunnel re-enforcement brackets and sway bars might not be needed. i think a skid plate is a must if you do any off trail riding(dont we all) and is cheap insurance from costly damage. low windsheilds are a personal choice depending on length of rides, tempertures etc. luggage can always be added after as needed. bottom line is ride it first to see if it needs anything. many with 03 to 05s have done lots and others have done nothing.i expect the 06 models to be the best and dont think we will be dissapointed.

Welcome aboard 99srx700. See what you like for a sled and if its what you want, then get it. I'm not into accessories much, but thats just me. After riding it and speaking to those on this site, determine what suspesion tweaks and upgrades you may need. Don't spend the money before you ride the sled, it may need less than you think.

If you want a backrest for your new machine the only thing you can buy is a polaris backrest,i bought won and it works great.

Taking a good hard look at yamaha myself this time. I have had a 670 mxz and lately a 03 firecat. I have owned yamaha outboards and currently have the 150 efi on my boat. Great engine. Looking forward to seeing what yamaha comes out with monday.

leave the clutch alone, much better, on gas and performance. adjust susp. for handling 05 was a much better sled than 03, seat susp rear new sled, go with yam. bags but check the mount first as the 05 bags not as good as old ones, brackets ok wshield ok. get good mirrors not the little shits yam. sells, change carbides after fist ride look into studs, may have new camo. track. not seen yet, take your time with access, I have seen guys drop 10000 on access. to trade in 1 or 2 years. great sled good luck :
