The TOTALLYAMAHA SNOWTRAIN TRIP(Canceled)

What would be wrong with adding a few miles at the end of the trip? If evreyone else wanted to rest or call it quits after 100 miles, couldn't we go back out and put another 50 or so on? We could just run 25 miles out and turn around and come back? Personally, I believe the trip is set up perfect for all styles of riding and from what I hear, the 8 hour trip back on the train might be just the ticket to get some rest after a couple of long nights! I look forward to the trip.

I did the Snowgoer Decker Snow Train Trip in 2005 - I was hesitant to go on a guided tour at first, what sealed the deal is I had no riding partners for the week. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and organization of the trip, I had a blast to say the least. We only rode the train to Hawk Junction and started the trip from there, the train ride was not that bad, it just so happens that the rode from the Soo was closed for 1.5 days due to an accident, so it was the train or sled north to Wawa - the entire train ride was a completre white out, so it was a good day to be on the train going about 10mph swaying back and forth! The support truck carried our bags everyday from hotel to hotel - they also transported a Cat that broke down and ended up renting a sled. For the 5 days of riding we were just shy of a thousand miles, it all depended on the optional riding we did (the islands). I was concerned I was going to be inline with a bunch of two ups going 20 mph all day, they split you into two groups a fast and slow group, the slow group was not all that far behind us (most likely they were more consistent). It was a great trip overall and would not hesitate to tour with Decker's again!

Mr Sled and crew,

I am not going to be able to commit to this trip. Vacation time and $ will not allow.

I hope you get enough to go it sounds great and would love to read the reports and see the pic's

I didn't think that you need a passport for land crossing till June 2009?

http://www.crossingmadeeasy.com/passport-info.htm

As early as June 2009, all persons, including U.S. citizens, travelling between the U.S. and Canada by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline,

I have done the trip, IMO 100 miles a day is TOO Little you should do over 200 miles a day, unless you want too in the hotel by noon. trails are amazing.....worst part about the trip.......the 8mile and hour train trip,,,,,,I wanted to kill myself

Thanks for bringing such a positive note to my trip :o|

Sorry, didn't mean to do that....Looking out the train windows while the nicest trails in the world passes you by is hard to do......bring lots of booze..... :o|

update that might make it easier for some to think about this trip. lynne and i just crossed the border several times last week on vacation, riding the motorcycles around lake superior.

we specifically asked the question to the border agents about the documents required for crossing back and forth. we were given a pamphlet and told verbally YOU DO NOT NEED A PASSPORT UNTIL JUNE OF 2009 TO GET INTO CANADA OR THE US.

what you need is a photo id from your home state or province, AND a birth cirtificate showing your state/province origin. anything less and you will need a passport.

also remember if you have any felony arrests, or dui's you will not be allowed into the country. (either country, it is a reciprocrating agreement between the u.s and canada). ski

Is there any word on who or how many are in for sure on this? We're close to the end of Sept, and this thread has been pretty quiet for a while... is there still enough interest? I still need to get the $$ in, but we'd like to know if there's anything new!!!!??

I am not sure either... I really think they need to fix the ad in SnoGoer so people dont think we are going out west.

I didn't hear anything about that! Hopefully we can get something figured out soon? I'm sure most of us would like to figure out what our travel plans are for this season..

Decker Tours has extended the reservation deadline to Oct 25th. We only have a few people signed up currently. This date will not be extended after that date due to the train being open for others to book. Remember we need a minimum number in order to keep this ride going. I really did not want to open it to the public, so please if you are interest in going please get your reservation sent in to Decker as soon as you can.

Everyone that has been on a TY Ride, please let’s help get the site going on this!!! You all know how much fun we have as a group!!!
