Well, I guess I'll start at the beginning. In the Fall of 2011 I began searching for a new sled to replace my '07 Phazer. My searching left me with two options, a 2012 Polaris 800 Switchback Assault or a new non-current 2011 Yamaha Nytro XTX. After a few weeks of debating, it was time to pull the trigger.

9/27/11 - Bringing the Phazer to the dealership

10/15/11 - The day I picked up the Nytro XTX

Fall 2011 - Almost immediately after I brought it home, I wanted to make it truly mine.
  • Put on a Lake Effect 2.5" Pivot Riser (great product btw).
  • Had a buddy paint the windshield red for me.
  • Put on the Yamaha red vent screens.
  • Went with Slydog Powderhound 7" skis.
  • Ultra-Q Silencer
  • Yamaha red skid plate

1/27/12 - First time ever riding the sled, my buddy found me some snow to get stuck in.

Spring 2012 - I spent the rest of this season getting use to the size and power of this machine.

Fall 2012 - To get ready for the next season I decided to add/change some more things to the sled.
  • Plasti-dipped the tunnel black and had some vinyls made by a local shop.
  • Picked up a brand new set of C&A Pro MTX skis at a booth down at Hay Days for $280! (sorry Slydogs)
  • Picked up a red snow flap from the dealership.

Winter/Spring 2013 - Continued getting use to the sled this season.
  • Found out that I liked to put the sled on it's side and break expensive hand guards.
  • Gas attendant at a resort overfilled my tank and rubbed off a decent amount of plasti-dip on my tunnel.

Fall 2013 - More changes to the sled.
  • Picked up a used 2" Challenger track on Craigslist (not the greatest shape, but $200 wasn't a bad deal).
  • Pulled the plasti-dip off the tunnel (it held up decently well but I didn't want to spend the time maintaining it).
  • Painted the rear and front bumpers.
  • Cleaned up the tunnel by removing the tail light (to be replaced by an LED).
  • Switched to a 19t upper gear since I switched to a 2" track.

Winter/Spring 2014 - Fell in love with the new track on this sled, completely new machine! This season I really began to notice the ice buildup under the tunnel and inside the plastics. Sled began blowing belts. On top of that, sled went through two sets of limiter straps. Center shock began to leak. Not a good way to move into the next season.

Fall 2014 - New season, new changes
  • Removed the skid plate to prevent ice buildup up front (will never run one ever again).
  • Installed the OFT Relocator Kit (finally)
  • Pulled the center shock and had dealer recharge it.
  • Installed a tether.
Winter/Spring 2015 - The sled is finally feeling pretty dang good! The track and relocator kit were great additions, because of the recharged shock, I went the whole season without tearing a limiter strap. Now the bad, sled shredded yet another belt. After getting the sled home, I found that I somehow lost my belly pan which was causing snow and moisture to get into places where it shouldn't. Also, shorted out my handwarmers on the coldest ride of the year. Ordered a Mountain Tech Shorty Skid Plate (another great product) and finally got around to removing the tunnel protectors.

Fall 2015 - Where the real fun begins.
  • Picked up a set of Pro Taper bars (w/heaters and grips) down at Hay Days for $30.
  • Removed the Lake Effect Riser because the new bars were a perfect height already.
  • Black Friday gave me a great deal on a XXXModRod Vent Kit.
  • Removed decals (left "Genesis 4-Stroke" on both sides on the hood because I think it looks pretty sharp)
  • Yamaha flexy windscreen because I know one of these rolls I'm going to crack the windshield.
  • Mountain Tech IP Vent Kit
  • Removed all the foam from the hood and side panels.
  • Had some new registration numbers made to match the Genesis decal.
  • Switched back to the original black vent screens because the red now seemed out of place.

How the sled looks now --

I will be logging updates from time to time, feel free to ask me questions about stupid decisions I made, or shoot suggestions my way!

MIDSEASON TO-DO LIST
  • Mountain Grab Bar (any suggestions?)
  • Fix LED Tail Light (stuck on bright)
  • Put original snow flap back on.
  • Remove decals on rear plastic.
  • Put on remaining XXXModRod vent (in front of clutches)

SUMMER TO-DO LIST
  • Powdercoat A-Arms, Spindles, Bumpers
  • New seat (any suggestions?)
  • Ditch rear plastics
  • New exhaust setup (Under tunnel?)
  • Replace exhaust donuts
  • New track

1/28/16 Update

While running my sled on the trailer I found a crack right down the middle of the Ultra-Q silencer. Removed pipe, ended up destroying gasket, had buddy weld it. Currently waiting on dealership to get the gasket.
