I LOVE THE LOOKS & ITS 8 MORE HP NOT 5HP!
WITH THE WEIGHT SAVINGS & 8 HP MORE I'M SURE YOU'LL FEEL THE DIFFERENCE!!!

BR

'05 RX1 officially listed as 145 HP box stock.

'06 Apex officially listed as 150 HP box stock.

Must be the new math how that turns out to = 8 HP difference. :tg:

Actually they advertise an 8 hp increase and "150 hp class performance"

With so many different numbers, who would actually notice the HP increase? :? Someone said the '05 is 140 hp, some say its 145 hp, others say it got 5 hp increase while some claim it was 8 hp.

I like the backing and my new dealer I found but still with such a short season I dont want to be without my sled for even one weekend

I don't think you need to worry about any type of problem that could leave you stranded. Usually the problems are minor. Furthermore, the sled you are riding now could break at any given time. Sleds today are not like the ones of 30 years ago when you spent more time repairing than riding. I am not brand biased, but Yamaha's reliability is great. Furthermore, if you need to take it in, generally the repair takes less than a day. Don't discount youself of enjoying a new sled because of something changing.

I'd to see the Dyno chart on the new ones, I bet that 8hp increase results in an impressive power curve.

2.5lbs on a crank is HUGE and with FI the throttle response will be like NOTHING any of us have experienced. This combination will be unbelievable.

I bet my Warrior will feel like a turd next to the Apex. Decisions, Decisions...

Brand new sleds make me nervous with issues

I wouldn't get too worried on issues like this. Yamaha has been great about backing their sleds. Service bulletins and updates have always been there.

Well I will find out for myself firsthand about how well they back up their sleds as I am having a major issue with them right now over a engine part that failed very prematurely causing a cylinder to burn down. I will not say anymore as I will post good or bad how they handle it.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Keep us informed, lots of folks here willing to help if we can.

I would like FI but with the ECP kit on my 05 - transfer even way forward with the strap pulled down another hole - I can lift the skis with a burb of the throttle. Pretty good response. To me the advantage of FI comes into play having peak performance at pretty much all temps.

Absolutely - with my XC8 - riding in 25 degree weather vs 0 degree - you can tell the difference between a jet change.

However, this being my 1st 4-stroke and only having a little over 1000 miles on my 05, I haven;t noticed much. The sleds power has significantly changes since the 1st day to now as well. Makes it a bit more difficult to guage as well.

I should have said I would assume that the FI would make a difference.

I've only noticed the difference in weather with two strokes. Can't say I've noticed on the four strokes. Also, some say its more powerful once broken in. Sorry to say I have not noticed anything. It will be nice with fuel injection not to bother with chokes and carbs anymore. I wonder how the guys who drain their carbs every summer will feel?
