I've considered shortening my front spindle lenghts in the past. Cutting off the aluminum spindle housings is no big deal, but cutting and rewelding the steel spindles looks tough. I wonder it the 06 shorter Apex spindles will fit an 03 RX1. Yamaha seems to keep certain parts of their designs forever (rail extensions for my RX1 fit our 83' SS440 perfectly). Shorter spindles seem as though they would correct some of the RX1's quirky handling, and yamaha must have recognized that for 06.

I've been wondering the same thing. I've also been looking into cutting down my spindles. You first. LOL

Different arms also. If you cut the spindles, then it will have a tendency to slide on its belly when you hit bumps. In deep snow it doesn't matter that much, BUT, I know that you guys don't drop your sleds off by helicopter every day.
Ummmm, are you refering to a long track RX1?
The 05 Vector short track is different from long track
All Mountain Vector, Mountain Apex and Mountain RX1 have same front end geometry
Apex Shortie is same as 05 Vector shortie, different from long track

I understood that one of the changes they made to the apex mountain (over the rx1 mountains) was a shorter spindle. Also it seems that cranking the pressure down on the front shocks would put the front back up in the air. I have alot of adjustment let on my front shocks.
