I'm thinking about getting a new to me Viper. I've found a couple 2014's what do I need to look at on these? What are the updates that needed done on them? I've got a 2007 apex gt, what will it take to make the viper run with the apex?

It probably has all uptades being a 14
Turbo will make it run with apex

My recent 2016 ltx dx ran with my brothers 2006 apex when he had it. It was a little bit faster but not by much

The viper is "quicker" then the apex. The procross chassis launches like no other. Dont worry about the top speed, enjoy the new ride. Check out the rear skid pretty good, look at the front arm, known to crack, look in the side panel on the bottom for any leaking oil, around the chainscase/oil tank. There actually pretty darn good sleds even though yamaha didnt make them. Its the heart that counts

The R1 motor in the Apex is going to give your Viper w/1049 a workout on the rail beds and lake crossings but you shouldn't have any trouble running with the Apex at speeds upto 80-85mph. The problem that I found when keeping pace with the Apex I would be at the top of my powerband, maxed out on speed and the Apex still had another 1200-1500 rpm to go. Found myself, with my bone-stock sled on revlimit a lot trying to keep the pace being set by the lead sled. There are many tweaks and upgrades you can try to gain speed but it really comes down to HP and seat time. I have two Apex-SE 12 and my brother has an Apex-SE 11. I never ride the Apex any more, they are back-ups. I think you will love the Viper.
