My wife and I was out on a casual poker run ride today, and me being the kind of guy that usually avoids deep water and mud never expected this to happen. We came to a mud hole, and there was a trail along the edge that was off camber, so instead of risking rolling it with both of us on it, I stayed close to the edge and motored along the trail, only to slide right in to some deep water! the water came up to the front hood so I opened it up, and the nose lifted high as the rear tires clawed along and the water got deeper yet! Next thing the rear started to float as it was not touching, w/ 25" Bighorns and two people on board! :yam: We made it out the other side without drowning out, but later found that mud and water had come into the CVT. I plan to clean it out tomorrow, and regrease it. Will I need to look at anything else for water coming in such as differentials and such?
Snorkels are getting added very soon after this...What other waterproofing mods need to be done with them, such as carb lines, breather tubes, and electrical?

Thats always a good time. That sudden rush when you dont know exactly how deep its gunna get or if your gunna get out and still be fairly dry... Anyway. I would definately check anything that has a vent to it. Im not sure exactly what that entails but you wanna make sure nothing else got wet. probly wouldnt be a bad idea to change all your oils. :4STroke:

I meant to post back on here but didn't get time. Attached are the pics of inside my CVT cover......Just a little mud in the bottom of the cover! A little touched the belt, and it sprayed around inside of the cover. I disassembled and regreased the drive pulley to be safe, but all was clean! I'm not too concerned after seeing that. I really thought it was going to be much. much worse. ;)! :jump:

Had that happen many times....if it looks like its coming over the fendors, you better get out...LOL

I must admit, I am very proud of how well the Grizz did in that situation. I was always a diehard Honda guy, and this inspired alot of confidence in my new Yamaha. :yam: :rocks: :-o

I have since decided to hold off on the snorkels, as I'm having problems with taking a hole saw to my camo plastics.... :drink:

This is when you know you went in too far!! :o|

Wow that is truely hardcore! Was it rideable back home in that condition?

Oh Hell no! Couldn't shift out with the clutch packed like that.
Had to do the ride of shame back to camp being pulled by the neighbors 450 Kodiak. :o| Never lets me forget about that one.
Just got in too deep in a hole that had a lot of clay in it and kept working it. Didnt have alot of experience at the time when that happened. :drink:

Well at least you got pulled by a Yamaha....A Honda or a Polaris would be downright disgraceful! LOL! :yam: :yam: :yam:
