After a season and 1/2 of pain, misery and $$$ I finally have the sled I always wanted.
Hats off to Matt @ MPI, Allen Ulmer, Hygear Suspensions and all that have helped me on this site.
After a dismal ride 2 weeks ago and fixing a broken cotter pin on the waste gate rod I got to the Yooper Thursday morning and went to unload and it would not idle and when forced too it backfired and would not go over 3000 rpms. I rode my Pro S 800 for the morning then came back to tear down the viper and check plugs. It started right up so I left on it. Did about 70 miles and then it burped at 80 ish mph and locked the track almost launching me over the bars cause I was standing up. It flashed a code but I missed it and it went away. the temp was bouncing from 39 to 160 back and forth and the low temp light was flashing. It ran horrible and I limped it to trailer.
I got up the next morning it fire right up and rode it 2 more days for another 400 ish miles and never did it again.
This video was shot going from Squeaks in Pence, WI to the BP gas station in Montreal, WI. It rained at 5 am and everything was coated with ice. The trails were poor with up to 1.5 foot chop on them. The snow is very heavy and wet. Some corners are swept clean and it was still drizzling. I had just played with the front skid shock spring rate taking it to 2 full turns of pre-load and down 2 clicks on all 3 Hygear Axis shocks.
I am back to stock skis with dually 8" carbides, 146 woody's grand master suds and another about 150 screw in points. I am only running 9#'s of boost since I am still hitting the rev limiter on that and need more weight in the clutches at this point.
For those of you that think you have to tell me to stay on the right side of the trail SAVE IT! I was letting this thing run where it wanted and I could see 300 yds ahead of me at all times and in the 3 corners I could not I dropped to 40 or under.

Here's hoping all those problems are behind ya. I'm guilty of riding in the middle of the trail, but like you've said, if you can see so far ahead, there's plenty of time to move over when another sled comes the other way.
Looks like you need more snow...it's a bit snirty. Par for the course everywhere I guess.

I hope so also, but the last 2 days on that thing made all of it worth it. Finally a sled with all the power (actually more than can be used on most trails) a ride that can handle 3' whoops and eat 1.5' chop like its not there. It turns almost on a dime and feels like power steering. Out in 3' of play snow unhook the sway bar and lays over punch it and stands on end

One recommendation....when you come to a stop after riding it hard let the sled idle for a little bit before you shut it down because the turbo and the exhaust are probably cherry red.

I usualy do but the trouble happened when it was cold in the trailer for 2 days. And the second time I was running down the trail at 80 mph. I think I may have foulded the plugs the week before cause the waste gate rod came off and I had to limp back with no boost and could not pull any rpms.

Being old school I always do this no matter what I ride. You are at X temp and once you shut the engine off the engine heats more for a few before it starts cooling down.

You should even be doing this with a lawn mower.

Nice video, so did you find out why the sled wasn't running properly or did I miss it in your write up?

Nope I just started it and it fired right up and away I went. I think I may have fouled the plugs the week before when the waste gate rod came off and I had to limp it home with no boost. Way over fueled and clutched for 120 hp vs 220. There is no snow at home so I fixed it and burped in on the lift to make sure I had boost and put it on the trailer with the sled dolly so I never really ran it after the fix.

That's insane. I finally for my non intercooled trail kit out for some miles today and I think it's crazy fast on the tight trails up here in Huntsville, ON. Other than the lakes I only get about a second and a half of WOT before I gotta grab a fist full of brake to slow it down for the next turn. Still getting the GEMS dialed in and breaking in the motor slowly. It just keeps getting stronger by the hour. I should have it completely dialed in by the end of Wednesday. Then it's back home for the 500 mile oil change and off to Newberry, MI for 10 days. I'm LOVING this machine so far.
So you put in new plugs?
Nope it cleared and ran close to 500 miles no more problems. I hae it the shop now and a new set going in tonight along with a look at the temp sensor wire.
