I just watched this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHlQ6XbJHLk. They make reference to the chaincase and cover of the FX Nytro being one piece (to save weight). Is this true? Does anyone have a photo of this? I guess I am interested to see what this means as far as changing/replacing chains/gears is concerned. What I am picturing makes me believe it could be a real PIA. I am hoping I am misunderstanding/misinterpreting.

I beleive they are talking about the aluminum cast pc. where the case is attached to. No, you can change the items just like the old style. 1 nice thing is they have another bearing on the outer cover to support the drive axle. Reverse is a very short throw now also.

Very cool...just got me to begin questioning the design. In the quest to save weight I was afraid they may have cut some corners in the convenience factor...glad to see I was wrong. I need to get some seat time on one of these things...just wish my Firecat was worth something so I could afford a new sled.

It appears as though the case and side frame member behind it are one in the same.

I think what they are saying is that the chainecase is diecasted into the frame. cant tell by the picture

Yes, the are explaining that the inner half of the chaincase and the bulkhead are all one cast piece. They first introduced this last season on the Phazer and now it's found it's way onto the FX Nytro models as well!

This (area in RED) is a structural frame element and it doubles as the back half of the chaincase.

what happens if you break a chain and you wreck than chain case. That would suck if you have to replace the whole bulkhead.

Yamaha has designed the chaincase to have the cover break during a chain failure and not the inner portion of the chaincase.
