Thumbwarmer switch unplugged but it still maxes the heat??

have a 04 rx1 with a thumb warmer issue, it would all of a sudden by itself max the heat setting and when I try to turn it down as im pressing the lower heat setting its fighting against me to max itself out again so I unplugged the thumb warmer switch and went for a ride and it is still maxing itself, just wondering if anyone had any further ideas that could pinpoint the problem, thanks!
