We have a race up here thats called Thunder on Ice, it consists of 660' Drags (this year and for now on) and 300 mile Grad Prix Race. To give some history last year a RX-1 placed 2nd in the 300 mile race and my dealer also placed 2nd in a much shorter version on the same track. This year they had drags as well as the 300mile race. In the mod classes a guy here that rode his RX-1 in the mountains the weekend before and at the last minute put it in the drags placed (1st in the 600 MOD, I don't think it should have been in that class even though the rules said it could be) then placed 1st in the 700 MOD and a 3rd in the 800 MOD classes. This is a RX-1 with over 7000 Ks on it and its totaly stock motor with window drivers, Hindel muffler, 159x16 Doo track with clutching and gearing for the Mountains, My dealer P.G. Yamaha had his RX-1 with a MC-Xpress Turbo on it running 9.5lbs boost 159x16 Doo tarck and some light weight parts on it absolutely KILLED everything in the Open MOD classes both days. (this was against 800, 900 and 1000 2 strokes (Power Saw motors) with N.O.S. and all the standard crap you have to bolt on a Power Saw motor to mak'm go. The 2nd fastest sled was a Rev 800 on N.O.S. and it was so far behind as I vidoed them coming down the track when my dealer went across the line, then went out of the picture the Rev was not yet in the picture. Can you say A$$ whooping? After the drags were over and the RX-1s had 98% of the hardware then they had the 300 mile race. Guess what won that? The only RX-1 a 2003 model short track that was in the race. There were 3 Power Saw motored sleds there that were faster (Not by alot) that were all done up but they scattered before the race was over. Man it was a sad showing for the 2 stroke camp this weekend here. The funnest part is that my dealer has more then 7000 kms on his sled and has yet to touch the motor and this is the same for the other 2 guys with the Rx-1s that were kicking butt. The few Power Saw motors that were going good are now either dead or are on borrowed time. Just what I seen this weekend here. Wake up and smell the coffee I say to the other 3 manufactures. 4 strokes ARE the FUTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. I was unable to join in on the pigon hunt as I put my 10:1 pistons in and did not have my sled all together yet. Maybe next year............

I thought doing the pistons would be a summer job. I see you have developed the " I need more boost " disease. 8)
how hard is it to change the pistons????

I think it is going to be a pain in the #*$&@, but think of the boost. I don't look forward to taking it apart again. I think it may take me about 3 months to do it. A couple of hours here and a couple more the week after. It's a long offseason. You need to set up a tray for the valves to keep everything in the right order.

Who cares! As long as I can run 17lbs of boost on pump gas for about 300hp! Sounds like a good summer job for me!

Yea I got the one more pound of boost Itiss, I stripped everything down and took it to my dealer for the pistons to be swaped. I'll rebuild a small block Chevy or even a Big block but never tackled one of these so I paid my money and had them do it. They do me a pretty good deal on everything I buy from them so it was worth it. I just got it put all back together tonite and took it for a short blast. God Damn it pulls hard with more air! Doesn't hook up worth a $hit though. Gotta do some clutching and fine tunning and I'll let you guys know what I come up with and what the out come is.
Snowfever--can you give a ballpark on $ were looking at to have someone do this. I know it varies.

I am posting this movie for Snow Fever.
This is the Final with my Dealers MC-Xpress Turboed RX-1 with a 159"x16" Doo track on it. The sled that got second that you see go across the line after my dealers sled is a Rev with N.O.S. on it. Looked like a 2-3 class difference in the sleds, man it was ugly. The rest of the sleds my dealer raced (several with N.O.S.) got whooped even worse then this one.
right click on link and select save target as to download it.

10hrs to re-re the motor, I thought the throttle response might go for crap with the lower compression but it seems ok.
