I did the search and didn't find any more information than a year ago when I first asked about the Thunder Racing blower. Anyone have one or ridden one or seen one on an Apex? I tried to email them from there email address on SW but it came back. I like this simple design and not having to worry about the intercooler leaking in the field a hundred miles from any where is a plus for me personally. Still would like to hear from a knowledgable person who's ran one. I'm new to the turbo or blower idea on sleds, I suppose I'm a bit reluctant.
Also thought I would ask for an update on the MPI S/C , did they get the EFI box fixed and figure out the belts breaking issue's they were having ? How dependable have they been for you guys ? I don't want something I have to wrench on weekly or even bi-weekly. Stage one is enough for me for a few years.

I've got a stage 2 MPI and put 3400 miles on it last year. great trail sled but if you think you don't have to wrench? I went through 8 blower belts.. they didn't break but the cogs would get chewed off at WOT. MPI says they have a new belt but haven't seen or tried it yet.

exactly what I was concerned about

THX for the input, this is my concern, I don't mind changing a belt every 1000 miles more would be better but I don't want to wrench on the thing every weekend or every other weekend. This is why i'm waiting a season to see if they can remedy issue's like this.

I believe the belt failures were related to the Stage 2 supercharger only. There were no belt failures on the Stage 1 kits when the belt is installed and tensioned properly.

I have not had any problems with my stage 1. After a winter of trail riding and summer of racing everything looks good.

I can't answer on the Controller since mine is on a RX-1. As for the belt; I have 800+ mountain miles on my Stage 1 and the belt looked like near new when I pulled the oil tank and pullies off two days ago to replace the torn crank case gasket I had torn when doing the install last Dec. I thought Permatex would work for a fix but it was leaking a qt. every 140 miles. I figured now was a good time to pull it apart and replace the gasket. If you do go the MPI route; buy a new gasket in advance to avoid the oily mess later.

The only cases I have heard of with belt failure were with the stage 2 systems. Both mine and my buddies belt wore just fine with no problems. You have to remember though everything that is claimed to be "a bolt on performance product" is real something that needs to be watched and tinkered with if you want to get the most out of it. The MPI S/C is a very clean install.
