Grizztracks hooked me up with some support plate to weld into my 09 Nytro subframe. THe support plates are chrome molly (4130 alloy) and I have no idea what the Nytro subframe is.

I have found a guy in Winnipeg that will Tig weld it for me but he asked me to find out what rods he needs to use. Can anyone advise me what rods I need to get for this job??

**anyone in Winnipeg that is interested in making some cash tig welding this for me?? (I'd rather trust a yammie guy with the job)***

Thanks for any assistance with this.

;)!

E-70 S-6 will work just fine, the frame is just mild steel from what I've been able to find out.

Brett, big thanks dude! ;)!

You may want to unplug all the electronics...the current may harm the electrical guts.. :o|

Very good point RJH. We cooked some electronics on a Ski-doo MXZ 583 a few years ago welding the front arm suspension. Couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start when we finished the job. It was well after that that we figured out what happened. Recently, I removed the front radiator on my Vector after tossing a stud into the cooler to prevent the same. Lot of work but worth it. 05 RS Vector ER.

Keep the ground clamp as close to the area to be welded. Current takes the path of least resistance. If there are any electronics or wires grounded to the machine in between the ground and weld area disconect them, also dissconnect the battery cables. That should solve most issues.

they also make a surge protector that goes right on the battery to stop burnt electronics. use them all the time at work and have no problems.

Thanks for the tip guy.

The subframe has been removed from the sled and stripped off all components so it won't be an issue for this. But again thanks. ;)!

ER 70S-7 is the preferred alloy for welding mild steel. In general, the welds will be at least as strong as the mild steel tubing.

I used a MIG to weld the gussets in.
