If you can't find a 36mm I would think an 1 7/16" deep well socket would work too. There would only be about .02" of play in there which is less than an 1/32". Just some food for thought.

Another option ive seen on here and have done myself, is go to a place like sears and buy a normal 36mm socket. Cut it in half and weld a pipe on in between that will make up the length and will fit over the shaft. Thats what I did and works great..

Is it an actual 36mm socket or is it larger like a 3/8 bolt is a 9/16 socket? What size socket fits it

You can keep the jack shaft from turning by re-installing the brake disk key-way on the jack shaft and using an adjustable wrench. If you adjust the wrench to the exact size of the shaft, the key-way will keep the shaft from turning

That's exactly what I did. The custom long socket allows you to torque the nut when reassembling.

I think what you are referring to is a bolt with 3/8" diameter on the thread section but the head where the socket fits is 9/16". In this case they are talking about a nut and there is no way there would be that much difference. Unless I'm missing something, the size of the nut should be the same as that indicated on the socket - I guess the socket would be a little bigger in actual size to go over the nut but not by 3/16".race24x said:Is it an actual 36mm socket or is it larger like a 3/8 bolt is a 9/16 socket? I bought a open/box end 36mm wrench for $25 including shipping from somebody on Amazon. It took 5 days to get it. It's like 2 feet long. Makes a good weapon in a fight. I was afraid of trashing the nut taking it off and not tightening it properly putting it back on. It looks cool hanging on the wall also.
