Tight 144 Track??

I went with the Yamaha skid because I wanted the tip up and the extra idler wheels at the rear. Using the 9t is tight but doable. The 9t gives you a better approach angle and less chance of track ratcheting. Now that I think of it less front cooler icing because the track is running closer to the cooler.

Are you guys using tracks usa extensions. They told me they are made for 8 tooth drivers, and that even on my apex with 9s it would be crazy tight. Maxdlx

Yes I am . Interesting......

Thanks, G.B

So the tight track was bugging me so I had to get at it. This will work to loosen up the track on a 144 skid using 9 tooth drives.

I decided to cut the skid forward by 8mm to allow some slack in the track.

I used this tool and die grinder.

Then cut off and welded on new studs to the adjusters. I added 10mm to give me a total stud length of 70mm.

New adjusters done.

This is how much new stud is protruding with the axle in the fully forward position.

Track droop with the adjusters loose.

I am running tracks USA extensions too. It looks like that nut is pretty close to the track with that axle so far forward. I I might do that on mine so I can get the adjusters on correct nice write up man. I would run mine like the first pic. But I have already mothballed mine since the season is over down here.

I may look like it's close but there's probably about 8mm of space.

Your seasons over? I'm north of you and we still have a ton of snow. Still a good 4 feet on the ground and at this rate I should be good for another 3 weeks.

Well with the track loosened off the sled flys. On the way to work today I had it up to 87 and there was still more. Pretty sure I can reach 90. This is a 5mph gain compared to the 121 X 1.25 ripsaw. I was expecting a 5 mph loss. Couldn't be happier with the swap.
