7000 miles stock silent drive 1.25 track shows no wear no pull throughs but after reading some horror stories do i get it out of there before carnage strikes?

Pinnin' it!
Are the stock tracks 2 ply? I got 14,000k on my cobra before it started launching studs and started showing wear. 7000kms seems kinda low to replace if there is no wear showing. Just my $0.02.

I know all of us would want to replace track B4 carnage strikes. But that's the age old question of when?Miles. Yes 2ply
It's kinda like my battery scenario. Do you you replace every 3 seasons, or can it wait 8 seasons B4 something happens. I waited the 8. Hahaha.
I wish there was a chart explaining what to look for and when it's time to replace.

10,000 kms on my Ripsaw 1 and it was falling apart. I think age was catching up to it. I started losing a long of lugs last season. That was a good sign its days were numbered.

IMO, there are lots of factors that go into this decision. Just to mention a few - age, miles, studs/no studs, how sled is stored, how many high speed miles (like how often track is over 100 mph), how much sled is driven over places bad for track (sharp rocks, cement curbs, stumps, brush, logs, etc) and how often track is spinning over stuff like that.
Some guys can make tracks last over 10000 miles, while other guys w same track they only last 5000, even less.

Our rule of thumb is get it off if approaching 6000 miles if you’re going to be doing any high speed running.

Go with carnage!! Years ago, an impromptu radar run was set up on Whetstone Gulf reservoir on Tug Hill, and a bunch of 800 triples were around 115, as was a triple srx. We watched for a while and a cat blew his track at speed...what a spectacle!!! Pieces flew pretty high, as he slid to a stop! Lucky!! Then Encon arrived on 3 sleds and we took off! I personally drove 2 ski doos back, 2 separate times, an mxz500 and a 600 legend, (around 50 miles to the trucks) with ripped tracks, sections missing and had to stop and cut off the flopping parts. I let them ride my apex as they didnt get to ride much...as long as theyd wait for me once in a while. I destroyed the mxz500 track when I knew I was a few miles away! I got 60 mph out before a really big bang!!I know all of us would want to replace track B4 carnage strikes. But that's the age old question of when?

Ah,to be young again!!
Anyway, if the track looks good rubber and cord wise, they can last quite a while.

Like someone else said a lot depends on how and what it's been ridden on. My sidewinder has 10,000 miles on the original track, studded and tuned and still in good shape. My brothers 16 Viper has over 16,000 miles on original track, studded and still in good shape. A buddy has over 12,000 miles on his Tcat original track, stock tune and studded still in good shape. Now we don't ride if trails are so-so, just not much fun in that and hard on the machine.7000 miles stock silent drive 1.25 track shows no wear no pull throughs but after reading some horror stories do i get it out of there before carnage strikes?

Ugh,Lol....I'm with ya! I hate hearing stories, makes me nervous. I think what was said carries a lot of merit. What you ride on, and over. High speeds runs every weekend, and or just simple abuse. And since I don't fall into any of those categories....let there be carnage!!!Go with carnage!! Besides...I get a peek at everything after every trip.
I would probably only do a track change as an upgrade. Meaning if I found it necessary to go with taller lugs or shorter lugs to help me reach my goals.

Studs really seem to shorten the tracks life, but yeah, really need to look at them. Both of those doo tracks had many studs gone, so no surprise there. And batterys?? Dont need no stinkin new batterys! Until we do!Ugh,Lol....I'm with ya! I hate hearing stories, makes me nervous. I think what was said carries a lot of merit. What you ride on, and over. 3 per bar stored indoors only. Could also be why it still looks good yet. And im not easy on it. But i dont do many throttle on landings nor ride in sketchy conditions.
