Time to go 4 stroke

On insurance coverage, I no longer use the local insurance agents. I go straight to the insurance companies and found them less expensive. MetLife for my home, 21 Century for my cars and Foremost for my Yamaha. Each state is different in their regs for coverage requirements but, the above combination of companies has been the best for me and I shop them every two years.

In the people's republic of Massachusetts it costs me almost 400 for liability alone if I move to NH I can get full coverage for half that.

I'm Lucky There's no Insurance in the backcountry.
I used to pay300-400$$$ a season back in Ontario.

You are only "Lucky" until you need it...

Go to the Stolen Sleds area on the forum, and then call your insurance broker.

(its covered under my home owners / vehicle insurance, calling would be a total waste of time)
I dont know any backcountry rider that insures there sled for riding.
out here its more important to know how to use a wrench, than how make an insurance claim.

but, I want you goto that stolen sled forum bud, and read my post from last month about the sled I recovered,
Im that Guy that tracks down the theives for fun for my friends, and makes examples out of them.

This is my insurance, I own a baseball bat and have no idea how to play baseball, along with an indestructible lock its a pretty good self-renewing Policy, that works great for me.

I bought a 2012 Vector LTX this past fall for $10,000. My dealer had three Vectors come in this Fall. Two of them were snow-checked and one was for show. I bought the show one and when I went to pick it up they had received two more Vectors to sell. It does appear that some dealers don't carry too many Vectors. I did see some Apexes and more Nytros on the floor.

I have MetLife for all Home, Autos (2), two sled and trailer. My Vector is $208 for full coverage. I also have boat that is covered by Progress, seems some insurance companies have Progressive under-write them.

VectorLTX - you got a better deal than I did. I paid $11700, but got about $1000 more on trade than my Apex was truly worth, plus the sales tax savings on the balance. If I had to do it again, I think I would have pushed a little harder on the deal.

Progressive quoted $400-something, so I switched to Erie Insurance for $189 for full coverage on the Vector, $60 for liability on the Polaris. Erie only covers sleds if you have an auto policy with them. Erie is more expensive on my truck but the savings on the sled insurance plus my homeowners made it an easy choice. My coverage is full on the Vector - comp and collision, 250K/500K liability.

FYI - In NYS, your sled is only covered by its own policy - not homeowners or any other policy - so, without its own policy, if a sled is stolen out of your garage, you are SOL. A lot of people don't know this.

redrx1rkt,

When I bought my Vector I also traded my 05 Renegade in and with the trade-in special I got just shy of full retail when you include the sale tax saving by trading. I made out good and when I went back a few weeks later they told me that my old sled never made it to the show floor and was sold. I must admit that my old sled was in very good shape both in appearance and mechanically.

Happy Holidays!

I have had a few sleds quoted. Vector LTX and Doo 1200 Gade are the top contenders.

Progressive - $1200 per year
Allstate - $1200 per year
Auto Owners- $150 per year. $120 for Oct-Apr and $30 for Apr-Oct. I use them for truck, motorcycle, boat.

Either way, I usually have 1500 miles on by this time of year, and currently I have not even started my sled because of the lack of snow. I have even canceled my annual Christmas to New Year ride as the forecast does not show any snow.

It's amazing, isn't it??? I looked at the satellite snow cover map that was updated yesterday and there does not appear to be any rideable snow anywhere in eastern North America, at least below Hudson Bay. No snow in our forecast until 12/27 either (not that there is snow after that - its only as far as the forecast goes).

Vector 2012 - I got $4700 trade in on my '06 Apex with 11K on it. I also got the $500 Trade My Sled bonus, plus another $500 off from a Good Will deal I negotiated with Yamaha (long story). Vectors had the $400 cash back deal too. When all was said and done, I got a brand new Vector with a balance due of $5500 without a cent leaving my pocket. Still, I should've pushed for a little more on trade in for the Apex, but they will probably have to sell it for $4000 or less with those miles and with no snow. I remember they gave me $5500 trade in on my RX-1 and had to sell it for $3700 a year and a half later. I guess it was their turn to make a little money. :hide:

I took the 3.99% for 36 month financing deal - half the rate of my credit union.

While surfing CL this morning at work during break looking at trailers I found this 2006 Nytro. Not exactly the sled I was looking for, but it has been excellently maintained, 3015 miles, new track last year. One owner sled owned by an older gentleman. Couldn't pass it up. I could resist taking it out for a quick spin down the road and was surprised with it. From 0-70 it destroys my 700 vmax but after that the vmax just walks away from it. Should do awesome on the trails once I get the suspension dialed in. I also spent an hour today going over it and could not find a single thing to do other than try and figure out where the tail light wire is supposed to be routed to. It is currently exposed on the ride side tunnel.

Depends on your driving record...i have a good record...two teenagers on my auto policy..have an 06 attak and i give $20 a month for full coverage...state farm...as far as u were wondering bout the motor that will be the last thing to wear out on that sled...proper maintance and these motors are 40,000 mile motors without a problem...look at some of the used ones with 20,000 still wanting good money for them..

2012 Vector LTX with EPS

Dealer on TY advertising 9900 or there a bouts, why would you buy a non EPS sled for that price

The RS Vector Nitro BadBoy is geared low for sharp response corner to corner. You may gear it up a teeth or two, add some clutching to match the new gearing. Keep the questions coming, we're here to help you out.
