Top Speed Apex GT?

Pick up a bag of 96 studs and then pickup a bag of 300 studs. There's probably a 8-10lb difference and that's rotating mass, which kills top end. With 300 studs on a stocker you probably lost almost 10-12mph. Way to many studs. Unless you have 300hp, you are doing nothing good for that sled. In an Apex, the most you need is 144-168. Run Woody's 1.450" stud and you won't have a problem.

cool.. 1.325's pointless??? I was told 1.4's are dangerously tall by the dealer

I ran 1.4's bottomed out the Zx2 3 times with the larger 8" rear wheel and never hit the tunnel or front heat exchanger. Some guys even run 1.45" without issue.

I'm running top gun 1.375" with the polimer backers...big weight savings witch helps top end....2000miles and all the studs and backers are perfect

I called Port Yamaha told them to send me 144 studs he said I needed 1.4's, So that’s what I put on. Ho ya top seed this year 75mi Hr ha ha, I have to break It in still.

Before changing my suspension and track, I took a pic under my sled to show stud scrape marks on exhaust and aluminum brace. Although you can’t notice all the scrapes on the aluminum cross piece, but you can see the scrapes that caused a dent on my pipe. This was with the stock track with woodies 1.325 up the center. Probably would work fine with longer studs if you don't ride hard, but I definitely would not chance longer studs for me.

Hey Mach: What's all that smoke around your Apex - are you hiding a 2-stroke under that hood of yours?? :4STroke: Wig

That's the stinky ski doo sitting beside me waiting to run - Its amazing how 2 stroke smoke drives ya nutz after owning a fourstroke - 2 strokes to the backof the line please :4STroke:

Are you the same peson, "machzrobbie" from DOO-TALK"?

Same set-up here. Best studs & backers available IMO.

you light weights may be able to run 14.50's but us bigger boys it might
be to long, i was running 1.325's, i'm taking knapps advice along with others and i'm putting in ice ripperxt, i may have been running track to loose but my front cooler has stud marks in it also bulk head has marks from outsde studs. will i miss studs sure i will but i trial ride 95% of the time.

I have 109 1.450 woody SS studs in my sled and i dont have a problem with hitting the tunnel.
