Just put a new Ripsaw 1.5 on and finished studding it. I find the track mushrooms between the studs(running 192 doubles), studs are torqued down to 16ftlbs and are flush, but the distortion makes bumbs that the wheels are going over. I never noticed it to be this prominent on my other track. Even backing nut off, breaking stud free, loosening the plate and re doing it is still the same. Suggestions/normal for this track?

Is this the same studding pattern you have used in the past? Almost as if the gap between the two side-by-side double backers in the same panel is too much (ie. not further apart) and causing the mushroom effect. Notice there is still mushrooming occuring between the two stud heads in the double backer but since there is very little gap, the mushroom effect is nominal. Increase that gap (ie having two backers somewhat close to each other) and the mushroom effect is more prominent. :dunno:

Yes it is the same pattern.

If that's the case, then outside of it being caused by a single-ply track, of which I don't think the Ripsaw 1.5" is, I'm not sure what else would cause that.

It is a 2ply track, looked at a piece of my old track(Storm) it had a very slight mushrooming to it but nothing like this. They are the same studs/backers from the old track.

That's very odd. It looks to me like the 2 layers delaminated. Can you manipulate the "bubble" at all?

I've never torqued a stud down in my life. Tighten them down till the shoulder makes contact on the backer or just before they don't strip the nut and call it a day. There is nothing out of the ordinary in these pictures. Perfectly normal. Take it out and have fun.

Normal and nothing defective at all, not going to be an issue. Looks like every track I've ever done doubles on, which is every singe track I've ever run. LOL.

Looks like a defective track to me .. I doubt that track will last long in that condition as that bubble could be the start of a track failure.
I have sent photos to camso, there is mushrooming wherever there is a stud.

The mushrooming just seems alittle more pronounced then what I am use to. But i trust your input forsure.

Your doing

The right thing by getting a hold of Camso and get the imput from the guys that manufactured that track. I have studded hundreds of tracks and not one ever looked like that.. Yes some small mushrooming is normal but yours is excessive.. Yours is plainly put not normal….

What studs and backers are you using?

Are you using a stud for a single ply track on a two ply? Shorter shoulder on stud for single ply could be pulled deeper into a two ply creating more of a bulge around stud base. Just a thought…
