I just put new hub bearings and a set of Dupont slides on my sled. Its an mtx 141x2.25.When setting the tension and doing a track alignment I noticed a lot of track noise coming from the rear of the track, Its very noisy on the stand. Is this normal? How tight are you guys running your tracks? Are you going by the Manual?

The guys I know with 141's run the track tight. About all I can advise on noise if your bearings are new is to look for anything rubbing.

Back of the new Duponts trimmed correctly ? Maybe hitting the track windows and causing noise ! You can bevel the back up a little with a 4" grinder if you loosen the track all the way up. Make sure its not sticking out to far past the rail.

They're trimmed correctly. I'm going to go out and adjust the tension again, I think it's too loose. The track shouldnt spin at idle should it?

Both of my XTX's are noisy when sitting on a lift and running them. I have duponts on them and 4th wheel kits and they still make a great racket. I am running the MPI race muffler which is failry loud and the track is still louder than the pipe but put it on snow and you don't hear a thing. I run about 1 to 1-1/2" of sag in the center of the skid with a bit of tension on it about 5 to 10 lbs. These are not as prone to baloning issues as the rx and apex were and i have a ton of studs and no marks inside the tunnel from strikes.

Same here, I don't run studs however but no matter what I do to my 141 track ( 1 3/8" Lugs) the noise never goes away on the stand. It has had the "noisy" track (on a stand, suspension extended) since new and I haven't had an issue yet!

That's good to know. The track is loud, it didn't seem right. Thanks for the replys guys.Waiting on the skid plate now...getting ready for hopefully a long snowy winter. The sled is stock but I thought of getting the big venom clutch kit as well.I know alot of guys around here like it.Would I get significant gains with this kit?

Boy you guys are right, went out to the garage and fired up my Phazer 144 and my Viper XTX and the Viper track is WAY louder! I'm assuming its due to the thinner 1 ply belt and 3" spacing compared to the 2ply 2.52 on my Phazer. The cobra 1.6 seems to almost form flat spots between the bars while traveling around the rear idlers and that could be the source of the noise, I have mine set to 1" sag like my phazer.

Cannondale is your 800 quieter than your viper was before you switched drivers on it? My 800 with standard drivers is way quieter than my viper with extroverts.
Yes. Especially when track is dry the extroverts are causing the windows of track to find them. Makes noise. Try hosing down track it's noticeable difference and in normal riding everything is wet under there.
