Hey guys, Im planning on doing the Star 128" skid relocation in about a month. My problem was a track. I want and ice ripper style track with a minimum of a 1.3" lug I would prefer a 1.5 lug. So needless to say nothing available with a 2.52 pitch in a 128".. So I think I am going with a 129" 1.6 Ice cobra track but the pitch is 2.86. So I need to replace the drivers going with some Wahl bros. Going from a 2.52 9T to a 2.86 8t.
Does anyone with more knowledge or maybe have done this know if it will work???
Anything I should keep an eye out for while I am doing this..

I would think clearance with the big lug track will be a issue. I know it's tight with a 1.5 track without the protectors. Now with the ice ripper 1.6 you'll have studs at the tip of the lugs......seems like a problem to me. It would be a great track but I really don't think it will work without causing damage.
Maybe just go with a sno x track with no studs or do you prefer studs where you ride? I know I was happy going from my stock ripsaw with 144 studs to a 1.5 ripsaw, traction was awesome.

I have never ridden with studs, I dont really think going with studs is for me, I just wanted a little help in an icy corners, parking lots, and loading/unloading.. I have a 1.352 lug cat track on it now and I swear I have hit the tunnel protectors or ice build up a few times, but then I read about guys putting 1.75 lug tracks on their nytros. So i am totally confused on what to do. I trail ride with the wife during the week at moderate speeds on groomed trails, on the weekends I ditch bang/field/golf course riding with the boys. My shorty phazer (1.5 freeride)rode so much better off trail than my nytro does. The front wont even come up, I just snow plow and trench. The power is there, the traction is not..

not sure , but looking at the numbers ,will you run out of adjustment going to a 129" and smaller drivers ?

My understanding of the driver swap is that the 2.86 8 tooth are actually a hair larger(.100) than the 2.52 9 tooth OEM drivers??? Maybe someone has some more info??? I do have a concern about running out of adjustment, I will be buying Wahl Bros extro's so I will be able to run the track fairly loose..
