Hey there,
I just recently finished up studding my Sidewinder with 180 1.575 Woody's Trigger studs. I used the stock yamaha tunnel protectors and stayed out of the middle 3.5 inches to avoid the fins in the center of the tunnel. My only concern now would be ballooning the track and hitting the heat exchanger up front... I'm not too worried about hyfax wear and planned to run the track nice and snug.
I assume there are lots here with a similar setup, guess what I'm asking is how tight are you running your track and have you noticed any issues with the stock yamaha protectors?

Last year I ran mine at spec, 2 inch gap with 20 lbs down pressure center track. That's on a 137" track . this year I set it tighter @ 1 1/2 inches at center 20 lbs down pressure. I know it doesn't sound like a 1/2 inch would make much of a difference but it looks much tighter.

I agree. I thought that a 2" gap with 20 pounds pulling down on the track in the center seemed too loose, especially since I am running 1.500 studs in the middle. I set my tension to 1.5" which seems about right.

I checked mine again after running it for a few miles and it's back to 1 3/4 gap.I agree. I thought that a 2" gap with 20 pounds pulling down on the track in the center seemed too loose, especially since I am running 1.500 studs in the middle. I set my tension to 1.5" which seems about right.

Yep, I plan on keeping an eye on my track tension as the tracks will stretch during the first few hundred miles. I will also be keeping an eye on my front heat exchanger looking for any stud scratches.

Those weights hanging there are hilarious cause that's what I was doing until I went and got a cheap fish scale.I agree. Ha! I found those weights in our exercise room. (I was equally surprised to learn that we have an exercise room in our house.) LOL! My wife must have bought them as part of a set. She said that she uses the smaller ones but these are too heavy for her. So basically they have only been used for this purpose and always will be going forward.
