Can I get some suggestions about replacing my stock 121 inch track on an 06 APEX, I plan on keeping the sled for 2-3 years, maybe 4-6,000 more miles. I've always studded my sleds but I am thinking about buying a new Camoplast Ice Ripper or Ice Ripper XT. Does anyone have any suggestion of what kind of track to buy for general trail riding and where to buy from. Thanks in advance.

2006 apex rtx
i ran the ripsaw that came with my 2006 apex rtx for 5000 miles. it was studded with 144 up the center. i had studs tear out 2 different times and both times they damaged my heat exchanger.
i had to be towed over 100 miles each time it happened.
i put on an ice ripper xt this year and have about 350 miles on it so far. I love the track and feel that it has a pretty good bite.
I Only ride in maine and the trails can be pretty icy there.
Obviously this track does not compare traction wise to a fully studed track but so far i am extremely pleased.
If this track holds up for the same 5000 miles as the studed track i just replaced, i will never stud a track again.
Ibought mine from www.johnmaster.net over the summer. it was almost 100 dollars cheaper then what they are selling it for now.

Just switched to the IceRipper XT on my attak. First trip out will be this Saturday, will leave feedback after that. I was studded before but have had issues with stud damage in the past so have switched due to everything I have read about on this site.

Went out today for about 35 miles on groomed trails that are in decent shape (we still need more snow). So far happy with the track, on an icy plowed logging road it gave me decent traction & had no problem pulling away (though not the traction of a studded track). On a few icy corners I felt no track slippage & felt totally in control. Feels smoother than when I was studded. So far it is as good as I hoped for. Hopefully I get some more trail time with it.
I have about 600 miles on my Ice Attack track. (07 RTX) So far it's very good. Does not have the traction on glare ice that 144 studs do but it gives good control. On hard packed trails it's awesome. I went with the Ice Attack because I wanted a 1" track. Less vibration and more top speed. It seems to be a better trail track than the Ripsaw. Gives you the ability to slide the #*$&@ a little better when cornering. This helps with "brake steering" when trying to make a sharp high speed corner. Not as good in deep snow as the Ripsaw(Ice attack) Best feature is no vibrations from the track. Smooth as glass!
