So I had a GGB trail can on my sled, and it was pretty much a straight pipe. Rode it one day, and had to stop at a gas station mid-ride to pick up ear plugs. Droned so bad and was very loud! Does anyone know if other trail exhausts are quieter? Want to get rid of the suitcase, but not if its gonna be the same sound level again. Any insight would be appreciated.

I had the sandale exhaust on mine .quite at idle but loud when you got on it.took it off and put stock muffler back on as I did not see a performance increase.

MBRP trail cans sound quiet with minimal throttle but bark a bit when the fun lever is pinned against the handlebar.
YouTube MBRP trail can for Viper or ZR 7000, not a true sound test but will give you an idea of the sound difference

X2.

MBRP trail can has a nice deep idle tone and a pleasant brappp when you hit the throttle. Nothing over the top. Not sure there are any hp gains unless combining with intake mods but a there is a weight savings for sure.

They claim a 1 to 2 HP gain but more important is a 10 lb weight loss from the stock suit case muffler

For you guys that have them, is the drone/sound level bad on the MBRP while riding physically? I managed to sell the ggb, but don't want to buy another if its gonna cause pain again. My SRX 700 has triple pipes with a bender can, but the viper had guys in my group asking what the heck was under the hood.

The mbrp is pretty mellow until the packing needs to be replaced

I wouldn’t say drone is an problem with the mbrp trail, but it is louder than what I expected. Sounds awesome though.
I would say anything louder than the mbrp trail would be to loud, and I have had triple piped and bender cans on Yamaha triples and other piped and canned sleds.

I don't care for droning noise but I saw the OE mufflers breaking apart so I changed mine with a first gen MBRP and it failed. It cracked apart due to poor design and testing. I think MBRP just shoves crap out the door and tests in the hands of the consumer. Personally, I feel that any of them have too much low frequency drone especially on hard surfaces. I have the SPI on mine and like the silver ceramic coating and the sound is as quiet or quieter than any so they say. Decent bark when you get on it, but nothing that carries far enough to offend.

If you buy a mbrp make sure it’s all stainless steel. Not The earlier ones with the black top and bottoms, they were known to crack.

I also had the GGB on my Viper . Didn't last long. It was not bad when you are on the throttle but the low end drone noise is bad. Anyone want to buy it ? Lol. I would like to try another muffler but won't until I actually hear one for myself.

The spi can and header I had on mine was a great sound and not to loud either.

So you had the same experience too...right around like 25-30 mph was just a really loud drone and in the twisties you often stay around that speed. Might try to snap up a MBRP or SPI but also don't want to spend $4-500 and be pissed again.

I have a nice used Straight Line Performance muffler for sale. I have not heard it personally as it was included with a sled I got in.

If someone buys it and it ends up being too loud for their liking I would accept a return minus freight.
