I'm just waiting to see if they are going to give us our money back. I doubdt they will. They will drag the groomer through the mud before they do that.FLYBOY said:Bigwin
With the weather this year and lack of riding, I think you'd have to have pretty big balls to tell someone who has a legitimate pass that "it is mounted incorrectly and he is required to buy a new one". If this weather keeps up OFSC might start thinking what they can do to entice people to buy early for next year rather than hassle people who have already bought. Just a thought and my 2 cents. I know you're just the messenger, nothing personal.

sticker placement
I took the two bottom screws of the windshield right in the centre out and cut a piece of thin plexiglass to mount my sticker to looks good..if some warden has the kahounas to say something this year........

It must be placed on your windshield or your cowling in specific spots. When I took the Trail Warden course a few weeks ago in Bracebridge they warned us of this and to sell you another pass....It is to stop people interchanging plates between sleds. Bigwin, tell them to talk to people like my buddy who had his whole side panel stolen off his MachZ!? These panels are just too easy to take on newer sleds, and they'll tell you the old pass is needed to get the new one for $10. Hard to do when it's on the stolen panel!!!
I'd rather have it mounted as 87gtNOS does... at least they'd have to take a couple bolts out to get the pass...

I appreciate the info Bill and I'm not shooting the messenger (this isn't directed at you)!!
See...this is one (just one) of the things that bother me about the OFSC. How many sleds can I ride at once? One.
Ya but what if I want to share a permit between freinds and scam the system??? Then I couldn't ride with my freinds!!
The permit should be for the person not the sled! When 87gtNOS blows up his sled with TOO much NOS wtf does he do? Buy another permit for the ET250 he has to ride while his sled is down?? That doesn't seem right...I've always bought a permit and am first to defend the $180 as cheap fun for a whole year (I still wonder where it goes...) but that is a stupid rule!!
Nice mount BTW

.. hey there... Don't get me wrong either.. Iam not pro OFSC , or Pro Anything.I just thought I could help our club a little by doing the warden thing twice throughout the season. I don't have time for the phisical stuff these guys bust the backs doing.. I have been saying for many years it is the DRIVER>>>>>>> not the sled or the car or the truck whether it be liscence or insurance or trail permit that you have to buy. Its the individual... Think about how much more sence and streamlined the system would be,Tell that to your local politician. He'LL think your on crack... Ps good luck with the plates i agree they look great but some hard nose prick will bust your balls. Bill

Bill like I said my issue isn't with guys like you who VOLUNTEER(!!!) their time to make sledding safer and better in Ontario. I really do appreciate the time these guys put in to making the trails what they are...I just have some policy issues lol.

Is this a problem only in Canada? I'm from Iowa, and we don't have trail permits here, but registration just as a car has. I got to Noerthern Wisconsin at least once a year for a week to ride. and I agree that the trail permit thing is kind of a joke. I understand the principal, but if it were treated just like a hunting license, it shouldn't matter what sled it's on. If those of you who require those trail permits, got together in your clubs, etc. and petitioned the powers at be to issue licenses instead of vehice permits, I can't see where that would be a problem?
Someone should post petitions ant the local watering holes on th etrails for people to sign when they visit?
I brought my old ZRT with me to Mercer last March incase someone had a problem in our group. I ended up letting someone ride it who blew up his Slolaris. He came in from out of town to ride, blew his sled up within 4 hours of riding, and had to buy a 2nd permit the 1st day. $50.00 for 4 days of riding kind of sucked for him, especially when we're from out of town and only come there once a year!

The petition is a good idea....would take some work. People on these websites could print off the petition and post a copy in their local watering hole for people to sign...

Say the word.. I'm sure us Iowa folks might not be of much help, but if everybody who rides where the permits are needed would sign, it would probably get some attention. I would think that a license would even be cheaper to produce. I'll sign it when I get there!!!!!!

********UPDATE******
Well, today I got lucky. My throttle stuck on, because with this new bracket I have the cable sorta extended over it. So on the trail I had to undo one of the mounts for the bracket and move it out of the way.
I was lucky, I tapped my kill switch right away!!
After a few beers tonight I'll modify the brackets....

A little late now, but here are my pics of the plate idea, thx to the brilliant idea, I didnt have to put my permit in a stupid spot. This plate is the best idea ever!
I started out with a sheet of stainless, then traced the factory cable coupler thing that mounts off the studs for the bar riser onto the sheet. This included the holes and the shape of the coupler.
Then cut the flat part the size of the permit, and cut out all the parts with a hacksaw and dremel, then bent it in a vice. Then polished it all up with a wire wheel.
Breif description, but since its not my idea, I dont want to steal credit. Thanks again 87gtnos!

So you would like to get stopped all the time because they have to check out your license in you wallet each time???? :ORC
When you are hunting and have a deer or whatever and get stopped by the DNR/MNR you have to pull out your licence right?
Now imaging in an area that has 30sleds each 5minutes going by
Where 87gtNOS has his permit mounted I see no problem as it is VISIBLE
It is the people that stick it behind the blacked out windshield or on their dash were you have to physically stop and look behind the windshield
As for complaining about the residue, you can plame the guys that try to peal permits off at bars and lodges, many people have gottem them stolen that way over the years hence the VOID when you peel off the permit
Yes it is a PIA and YES they are too big

Sticker Guard
I use "sticker guard" from up north technologies. Check them out on their web site. It's precut sheets of plastic that you apply to the sled them the sticker on top of that. The sticker guard comes off with no after mess. Give them a try, I believe they are about $7 US for packs of 5. They are big enough to be used for the Quebec permits with room to spare.
