Can anyone with real world experience tell me if the supercharger that yamaha is selling will be gas and go? I am in Ontario and I ride about 4000 miles a year here and in Quebec. Relieability is important. Love the Nytro but more power like my Apex would be the best. Any feedback would be great.
 
I have a MPI supercharger system on my apex for the last 3 seasons and over 4000 miles. I would say its very very reliable, the only side effect if your doing that many miles is you need to cut the maintenance intervals in half or even less. Chains stretch out, belts wear faster, etc. I avg about 1000-1500 miles a year and I can get about 2 years of riding before things start needing to be replaced so for you you might get one season then have to replace the chain every year, driveline bearings, etc. Also the fuel mpg is around 8-10mph so you need to carry gas to keep the same range as everyone else.

To me its 100% worth it, boost is amazing on these sleds and they seem to takeit quite well. I have about a 250hp trail set up, lb/hp is better then any doo and wow you cant help but smile! I'm a power junky so I love it but its your call if you want the extra maintenance or not.
 
I also have an MPI supercharger (2006 Apex) that runs 7 psi on 93 octane, stock compression.

It has very linear power and instantaneous response. Response is so intense that it will shoot you off the trail in a corner if you bump the throttle inadvertantly.

With a 128 cobra track, its best top speed on a set up trail was 109. Last year I hit 127 in the same conditions.

It has one drawback,,,,,compared to stock it has limited range. Before the SC, it got 15mpg regularly. Now, it is right around 10 mpg. 10 is comparable to most 800 two strokes, but with only a 10 gal tank (instead of 12 like most two strokes) you become the weak link on group rides.

Not from Yamaha or mpi, but from another supplier to rival.mpi is what he means.

Procharger has 3 models a-1, b-1 and c-1. They are all sized for powers ports. The physical size is bigger then the rotrex MPI uses. Been researching superchargers a lot lately for my 1200 ski doo.

The B1 looks to be a nice unit. 5-6lbs low, switch pulleys and go up to 25 plus lbs boost. Plus they are self contained, so no oil lines or cooler is needed.
 
hi essarex...i have my mpi at the 5 mark did u order the different top pully to get to seven im at 1200 ft and have wondered about changing pulley and if there would be any harm running up to 7 on boost wondered how your lucks been running at 7 with 93...thanks

The new supercharger I mentioned earlier is only a couple weeks from its official release now. As mentioned earlier, yes it's a new company, but they've intentionally kept a low profile media wise until the product was complete, and were ready to go. They've spent the last two years in R&D, and have worked like crazy to correct most if not all the problems the other guys have.... and are now in testing phase. My XTX is one of the test sleds as I'm local to them. From what I've seen, and allowed to leak at this point, this is what I'm allowed to post...: LOL (They told me to be quiet for a long time!)

It's a billet twin screw supercharger kit, carbon fiber intakes and boost plenums (and can be custom made with a number of different colors), a complete control system with timing control and wideband fuel control. As of right now, it's designed to be complete down to the clutching, gauges, and everything needed to complete the system. They're designed to be pump gas only (91+) and far more power, driveability, reliability and adjustability. During light throttle cruising, near stock mileage. They're building kits for both the Nytro and the Apex now, and are close to being up to speed in production.

I'm not sure about dyno numbers, but they hinted that Nytro should be in the 200 range (though I think more in the 210-220 range) and the Apex in the 230-240 range, but with brutal torque and full boost available even off idle. They've been obsessed with quality and have kept very quiet about it, but will be released within the next few weeks. I really think it's going to be a game changer for sure!

Are these kits Bolton and go? Whats the price?
 
So mike are you, saying it is the same boost numbers (8-9 hp per lb), but it just gets there quicker because of the dual screw spooling? Dumb question but superchargers always seem quicker off the initial throttle response then a turbo. So Does this add anything to the mid or top end to make it pull more like a turbo where the normal supercharger lacks?
