Anyone using the toycarrior sled covers? They look good and durable but kinda expensive at $850 for the 12 foot model.

I'm looking for a trailer but undecided on cover or uncovered and/or 1 or 2 place. Just getting into sleding and the money is adding up FAST

Do yourself and your sled a favor, only buy a covered trailer. Your sleds will take a beating in an open trailer.

I have a 10' drive on/off covered trailer 4 sale. It is a 03 Renegade aluminum with a spare and ski glides. It has been used 7 times if I remember correct I am in central Mich if you are interested and $ is 1500

Grape Ape I assume thats a canvas cover? If its a hard top all i gotta do is drive forever and come get it :D $1500 is not a bad price for a covered trailer and if it's a hard top even better. Hell maybe i should just put a cover on the one i got

i have an open trailer. its a 12 footer i think. It works great and i just put sled covers on them to protect them. I dont plan to use the trailer for anything but snowmobiles, so it works great

MikeB, I would start with a two place trailer versus a one place for several reasons. One, you can put your buddies sled on your trailer taking one vehicle instead of two. Second, you will probably end up with another sled (backup sled, girlfriend sled, etc.). Third, the wider space pulls better down the road and is more stable. Fourth, you can haul stuff on the trailer in the summer.

The next question is 10 foot versus 12 foot. I like the 12 foot because sleds are getting longer and you have some room up front for extra gas cans, etc.

I am with SoCoRX1 in that my trailer is not enclosed. I DO have a salt shield on the front to protect the sleds. Has worked well for years and I see no reason to change.

The advantages of covered trailers included 1) You don't have to buy a snowmobile cover or hassle with taking it off and on; 2) They are a safe place for your snowmobile and gear when traveling; 3) They are good for storing your sleds during the off-season.

Hope this helps.

I think I am the ONLY guy who responded who actually knows what you are talking about.....well....because I had a Double Wide Toy Carrier....here is a picture of mine....

Is this what you are looking at? I sold mine. I liked mine alot....

Benefit's

Can see down the middle while towing ;)! ...Light, VERY Strudy, Easy to clean, built in ski guides and track mat

Drawbacks (Double Version)

Snow get's in between the covers and makes it hard to close unless you clean between them. Can't really use them for anything else except sleds(ie. moving furniture etc. because covers are a specific size and nothing really fits under them).

I am buying a Double Open Trailer with a canvas sled cover this year. Where are you from? If it's Ontario let me know as the Toy carrier manufacturer are about a mile from my house.

Mosquito Capital of the North...my guess is Winnipeg???

I purchased a Toy Carrier last fall. It worked well for me this winter, no leaks.

Real nice to finally have an enclosed trailer and not have to deal with that dirty/slushy cover, which is usually frozen rock hard by the time you go to put it back on at the end of the day.

Easy to clean with the pressure washer too.

I have mine on a single trailer.

Yes, my trailer is a hard top, black. I can get you a picture if you need, but it will be a few days. Also, I may be going to haydays this year, which should be kinda close to ya

GrapeApe I live about 30 miles from Hayday's and plan on going this year myself. I'm gonna have to seriously think about this one! if you still have it then! A picture would be nice if possible.
Thanks

I've had the double toy carrier (10 foot) set-up now for the last two winters, and have had great luck with it so far. As noted in one of the posts above; it's light to tow, and you can see between the two units in your rear view mirror.
