Hello,
I had a problem this year, my trailer tie down car got frozen so wouldn't let my sled out of it. I tried a bunch of different things, only thing that got my sled out was cutting the bolt that holds the bar to the skiis. Now, I have a problem...
There is no easy way to replace the nut in the floor of the trailer that the bolt screws into. So, my question is, has anyone rigged up something to work? This is a slot type receiver in the trailer. I was thinking about rigging up some type of carriage bolt or something, but have not had a chance to do it yet. Any suggestions?
Also, with the emergency brake on these, is there a danger to trailering without the ski hold down bar? I'm sure there is, but has anyone done it? ANY suggestions are welcome.

I never use them when I use the open trailer same reason. I just use rachet straps on the front and back of each sled.

I don't really have a way to use ratchet straps in the enclosed trailer, unless I install a couple of eye hools, or rings or something.
Sorry never froze things in my enclosed, I keep the heat on. Just add a couple of "D" rings in the floor at the front center of each sled. Thats what I have done & I don't fumble around with those bars when working in the trailer.

Carry a cheap propane plumbing torch. If the thing freezes, melt it.

HAHA sorry, when I said FREEZE, I didn't mean with ice. It was frozen with rust. I tried penetrating oil, I tried heat, I tried leverage....nothing worked. I had to finally cut them off.
I like the idea of the D rings though, these stupid bars have been driving me NUTS.

I dont tie mine down in my enclosed trailer, with studs and carbides they dont move so easy.

Ok, so, stupid question, what is the purpose of these tie down bars? I mean it absolutely helps with our other sled, it's lighter, and no parking brake. But on my RX-1, that thing is so damn heavy, I would have to flip it for it to move, I would think. But I am afraid I am not thinking about the other forces involved, excessive bumps or soemthing. But, I have never seen the rear end move at all, and with the carbides and studs...It can't be going too far.

Imagine hitting your brakes hard on a dry road and where your sled would end up. I would think at the very least your skis would be pointing through the front of the trailer. The tie down is for safety it will not save your sled if you hit something or go off the road hard. I went to a call one time (my father and I own a hauling business) and the trailer went off the road came unattached the ties folded straight up and the sleds where in the woods. But for small avoidable stuff it will help. Without seeing your trailer its hard to say how to fix it my trailer has an aluminum shield and under that I can turn my nuts and push it right through the floor................
Yeah I avoided an accident once until I opened the trailer door.

The nice part of the bars is that they stop from moving forward and backward, or any chance of that. If I install D rings for use with ratchet straps, i would probably be better off with installing them front and back right?

If you want to loose your sled dont bother tieing it down. Not to mention the fine for unsecured load. If it did (worst case scenario) happen to hit a bump and the sled slides off the trailer and kills someone.

You could try the snoclamp they cost 115.00 each, Never used the bars on my enclosed trailer and no problem with this system towing 03 warrior and 05 rx1.
