So... what is the goal of a properly set up rear suspension for a GT. I really haven't played with it too much other than changing it one time to realise that when I hammer it now, I can't steer!
Do you guys set your up for a lot more tranfer for acceleration traction, or what? I found that after changing my setting from dead center is that in the trails, trying to steer while riding hard coming out of a corner is not good!
I have 8" dooleys as well, I have the small ammount of push, but I have not shimmed my skis yet. Mileage sucks, and I am wondering if I have too much front pressure. I have not moved my limiter strap, and have only tightned the factory spring tension.
I messed with everything else with this sled, but the rear suspension is still a bit of voodoo magic for me. I'll agree with other threads here that the GT is not made for hard/ rough trail riding, but I would like to get as close as I can. I think I could deal with a rougher ride if it were more aggressive.

hey Nate...
the problem with these sleds overall IMO is they are tippy and have skilift when set up stock.
I personally want as much transfer as I can get,so as to get the hole shot...and traction and not spin outa hole....
problem with that is you then have skilift in corners cause it transfers back and lifts a ski all at once when powering out of corners..
solution....lower front till A arms are level with ground,then add a 13mm swaybar...then you can still have quite abit of transfer on ROD,and it will stay flat....also,tighten your limiter strap one hole at least.....also you can situp close to tank in aggressive trails to keep front down powering out...
also,as you know I like the Pilots for LIGHT steering YET good bite,and little darting.
IMO the best setup is that....you can then adjust clickers and sag to where your weight sits best and trail conditions....
Experiment with it...

I don't have Fox's on my sled, I wonder if it will be any different lowering mine vs. yours?
You think I should shorten the limiter strap?
My problem is that I ride mostly ditches, and when gasing it in the ditches, I can loose controll with too much ski lift. However, I don't wan to loose traction and spin alot either.

we did same with my buds GT...lowered to even with ground via the threads...Yes i would THEN tighten strap if you lower front.
if you ditch bang alot,i wouldnt go too low then...I ride mostly all well groomed trails,although this weekend it was really rough!...Mine was fine with my A arms level..I actually used to run it lower.
the lowering will help IMMENSLY with skilift on corners.
try tightening your transfer rod alittle,maybe try it half way...it wont transfer as much and keep planted better,try to get it where you like the feel overall...everyone is different and like different things.
tightening the limiter strap would be a good place to start and lower front somewhat.

I'll give it a shot, we're supposed to get another 5-9" tomorrow, snow sucks right now, I spent the night buffing and polishing the sled, but no adjustments.....
As long as I don't bottom the front, I like the look of it low, but I'm concerned about it affecting the rear geometry.
Does tightening the limiter strap cause any pressure on the strap that will shorten its life? I am picturing the atrap breaking on the trail from having too much pre-load on it. Do I need to adjust anything else when adjusting the strap?
I'll try lowering it tomorrow, and let you know how it runs.

Hey Nate,I here ya'.I gave my attak some more transfer and QUICKLY set it back.It was poping a ski on every corner,pushing,handled very poorly! I see your close by,If I ever see you out I'll say HI! Jay

We'll be riding tomorrow night. (319) 631-5423. We may ride north since they are predicting more snow northward! We may hit Walford, Gotta have a cold one at the Angle Inn.
My shop is in North Liberty, right on the trail, so if you see an all black Apex, flag me down!
