who is getting enough transfer on the 137 sidewinder to pull the front skis with out studs on the trail , I get it on ice but in snow how can you get enough transfer

they say more boost helps, or pull out the coupler shaft

Pull blocks and metal rod, Put heater hose over metal, line up angle. The rubber does absorb shock but does wear out some over time. Needs replacing after some time but it will transfer. Without studs not sure you will get what your wanting on a 137 coupled

After talking to a family of lifelong cat riders I removed the whole transfer bar and tested for approx 3,000 kms. I don’t like studs so only run an ice attak on 137” LTX with a powertrail tune, I really like handling balance the doo 6.9 pilots and this track give without risking stud blowouts on a trip. It lofts the skiis at will now and is much more fun to ride. Hugely improved offtrail performance, it can keep skiis up out of the snow for a long time. If anything the ride is improved with rod out too, keep in mind I only weigh 175 lbs. I have faithfully watched for any rubbing or damage and haven’t observed any ill effects from removal.

I put a star kit in my nytro xtx, with an ice cobra. this has no coupling and I run no limiters along with an extra inch of front skid travel. It improved front end handling by never touching the ground unless made to. poor trail manners though, I cant let anyoe ride it, it would kill them. but the traction on and off trail is a no brainer. my 137 xtx winder I left the coupling, because the wife rides it and needs to stay on the ground. But it is useless off trail. nothing but spooling and plowing. I prefer lift, nice to jump brooks etc. A lot of exercise, but helps me keep running an outdated sled, just pick the skis up and go over anything. the lift also helps to run more aggressive skis without the nervous drawbacks.

What robber hose are you using? Do you also let out the limiter straps?

1" I.D. >heater hose.. Black stuff usually readily available at auto parts store. I usually wrap a little electric tape first then a piece of heater hose. The stuff in the pics is silicone version of 1" heater hose. Couple things about this. I leave my straps out, I do not pull them up. Also Some have not put anything on the rod and have no issues. I set up sleds suspension so I do NOT ride on the blocks . When you sit on your sled it should sink about 2-3" inches IMO. If your riding around on the blocks the heater hose will wear off quickly.. I see sleds all the time that do this, and its a matter of preference I guess. But if your not able to only have 2-3" on sag then you need heavier torsions springs, a shock rebuild, and or go on a major diet.. No offense.

Thanks for your help!

I miss my turbo Viper with uncoupled skid. Better traction. I love my 2021 Sidewinder GT but the 137" skid with coupled skid is not funny as my Viper. I'm runninig 1,75 backcountryX track in my Viper and in my Sidewinder. Big different! My Sidewinder traction is bad and spinns. Thinking remove the blocks (like your pics) and move the limiter straps one hole longer?

Your welcome.. Having the limiter straps shorter is definitely taking away your transfer.. The 137 coupled is not known for having lots of transfer but straps out and blocks removed is about the best way to get some transfer

lol, my xtx 146 has too much transfer, i had to shorten it a hole....dont need to go through the field with my skiis 4ft in the air at 70mph haha

In Scandinavia we dont have the 146 XTX with ARC front. Only with mountain spindles and its not works on the trails.

I have the SE version which are the mountain spindles. Im not sure what you mean by it doesn't work on the trails. I ride very aggressively on the trails (for a back country sled). I had to change the spring on the center shock to get the transfer i wanted. The 146 skid is completely different than the 137 skid.

I like the XTX 146 skid but not the mountain spidles on trails. ARC front is much better for my riding.

I definately would have been happier with the xtx Le, however I could not find one, and was extremely lucky to get what I did get. I really want to try out the new front arcs, but I can't see that happening any time soon.
