I am going to canada for a snowmobile trip and will be transporting the snowmobile; is there anything special I need to be aware of when it comes to the boarder crossing?
Thanks
Thanks

Make sure you have appropriate id and paper work for all your vehicles. Do not transport liquor. If possible do not carry large sums of money. If you bring prescription meds, make sure all containers are clearly marked with prescription label, and that your name is on the label. Do not bring a large amount of tobacco products, example several cartons. Ensure your trailer equipment is operating correctly, example lights, ensure tags are up to date. Be calm when speaking with customs officer and be honest. If you did not do anything, then there is nothing to worry about. Any particular questions pm me.

Actually I will be renting a truck; just me visiting a fried; otherwise I would have to use my trailer and suv (I figured a truch wold be easier; no trailer). Any idea on what papers are required.

I cross the border each February and it is really no big deal. I also have a hired truck. They never have asked for the paperwork but I always have it with me. Make sure you have proof of insurance for sleds.
Be very polite to the border crossing agents on both sides. They will ask you:
- Where are you headed? How long will you be there?
- Do you have any alcohol or tobacco?
- Do you have any firearms or mace?
If it is sunny, make sure you take off your sun glasses when speaking with the agent. They want to see your eyes. Also, they normally make everyone in the vehicle talk to make sure nobody has any funny accents.
I have had a much harder time coming into America from Canada.

If you have a DUI or anything similar, they will probably send you packing if they ask.

Sounds like everything I already have taken into account for:
1. Called insurance company for sled today; all set.
2. Called rental place not restrictions on travel, all set.
3. Can't seem to find my passport but called both sides of the boarder today drivers license and birth certificate will do until June, all set.
4. No DUI's; only thing I ever had was a speeding ticket a little more than 3 years a go.
Where do you guys normally buy your trail passes; can you get them at the boarder crossing for the different providences?
FYI; thanks for renaming the thread, not sure what I was thinking or even why I ended up in this "topic" probably should have been in the lounge.

I come up every year (with 2 sleds). Peace bridge. I always have registration and insurance (for sleds) and a passport. They never ask anything except: 1. where do you live/citizenship. 2. where are you going/how long. 3. Do you have alcohol/guns/tobacco. This year they asked item 1 above and said have a nice day...didn't even ask what was in my enclosed trailer. I have a bigger hassle coming back to the states. They always want to open the trailer (I keep the front access panel unlocked so it is easy for the agent to look in - avoids getting referred to secondary inspection). Trail permits...before Dec 1, $180, after $200. You can buy on-line before you go. Best to buy from a local club where you ride.

I just called the snowmobile club where I will be riding and they confirmed that you can still buy 3 day for 7 day passes.
