Has anybody used the NTN bearing in the trihub instead of Yamaha China bearing?

I guess it doesn’t matter, went to use the ntn’s and they were not the right size. Ended up using parts unlimited bearings. Still made in China but seem to be smoother than the Yamaha ones

Man sorry for being late to game but I have had really bad luck with bearings from Parts Unlimited. You have 4th wheel kit also right? Just checking to be sure you dont ruin a ride.

No I do not on her sled. If they last one year I’m ok with that as I have the suspension out every year

I absolutely hate the Parts Unlimited bearings. I just used them in the bogey wheels so I could at least wiggle and spin them whenever I wanted. In one ride they were wobbling all over. Second ride one fell off. Gone. All my savings for those cheap bearings was well gone at that point. The rear wheels dont spin the bearing as fast as a bogey but you also cant just wiggle and spin them to check after a ride. Get a 4th wheel kit.

How does an outside wheel kit help if one of the trihub bearings fails?

I added the JT outside tower bearing supports and his forth wheel kit. I grease the trihub bearings with a grease needle at the end of each season and expect to get many thousands of miles out of them. Good grease is the savior to any bearing, especially at the end of the season before summer storage.

If you are using the tri-hub with no outside wheels, use good bearings and change every couple years!

I have seen way to many people stranded with the tri hub set up. Not fun when it is dark, snowing ,and cold. Do yourself a huge favor and buy A JT wheel kit and axle. It can save your and your riding group a lot unnecessary problems.

On my 2014 Viper the trihub bearings were moulded into the trihub. I used a cup saw the size of the o.d. of the bearings and cut the plastic away allowing the bearings to be tapped out. I then replaced the bearings with good quality ones. There is no need for a snap ring to hold the bearings in place as they cannot come out of their bores after reassembling the hub. I then added the Barn of Parts outside idlers and never had any problems afterward.

Same here, rebuilt my stock one and keep it in the truck as a spare (Many 137-141 pro cross chassis in my group). Running the JT 2 wheel kit on mine and the bearings are HUGE on that kit compared to the tri-hub.
