Unloaded on Tug Hill on Smith Rd. outside of C-ville about 11 AM, was back and loaded up by 1:45 PM. Put on 105 miles of great riding. I rode mostly on the East side of Tug Hill, because early in the season the West side always has alot of Water Holes. Most of the trails from Smith Rd. down to HighMarket, and then up to Montague were smooth, and lighting fast with no Water Holes, and very few bumps. West of Montague, some of the trails were not broken yet and I got to breal trail through 15-20 miles of 2 1/2 ft of Virgin snow, heading up towards Barnes corners. By Saturday the Hill will be a zoo, with alot of people coming up for the Shoot-out in nearby Woodgate. If you want to ride the hill, ride Thurday or Friday. About 1 ft of snow down by HighMarket and then the snow depths increased to about 2 1/2 ft by Worth and on the way to Barnes Corners. Very good base with so little snow, because of the cold temps. the last 3 weeks, and the 1/2 inch of freezing rain last Sunday night really help set the traisl up. Grooming should start this Friday.
Sounds great. Good report Gordon. Good to see some decent earlier riding conditions on the hill. Not rideable from your area yet, I am assuming?
I heard the trail going from Lee Center through Ava into West Leyden is shut down (landowner has a "signed" tree laying across the trail or something?). So I assuming that is they way you take up to the hill from down your way.
Looking forward to taking a trip up that way soon. Trying to squeeze in a ride before the holidays.
