Dan if you remember,i bought them based off your testing and price,so are the 6.9,s wider different kneel or something,i wonder how they would do with a pair of triple points on,say 7".Back on my cat turbo I loved my 5.7 pilots. I loved the pilots on my apex too. I am now running the 6.9 version of the pilots on my 4tec and think they are really amazing overall. I will definitely be keeping these 6.9s for a possible future SW, I think they would work very nicely.

Yep wider, and the unique thing is the two carbides are further apart then the typical 5.7 that is running our trails and so you dont tend to follow those popular ruts as easily.Dan if you remember,i bought them based off your testing and price,so are the 6.9,s wider different kneel or something,i wonder how they would do with a pair of triple points on,say 7".
When I installed pilots to the cat, the stock cat rubber was not a great fit, and i probably would have been better modding the brp rubber to fit the cat spindle better. There is a guy on HCS trying 6.9s now and he feels they dont sit flat. So the rubbers can be something that need some time spent to get a nice install.
Not and never will be a fan of Triple Points. Now for longevity, they kick butt yes....However the problem with them is they square off with some miles, and become flat across the 3 carbides, and now will NOT turn at all. So they last forever, but what good is a carbide if it does not turn? And at the cost of them, I tend to go for a simple 5" BRP extreme bar which is 65 bucks and 1/2" round host bar with 5" 60 degree carbide, a woodies 6" is also a good choice for the pilots. This keeps the steering effort very low on my 4tec.
On the procross the steering effort is LESS then the DOO extreme rider forward position, and so you "may" be able to go with more carbide and keep a light feel at the bars. I stay clear of shapers though as they tend to bring out the darting bigtime if you dont have your skid setup just right. Stick the cheapier 4" on the outside of ski just to keep it from wearing out, anything small works out there, usually stock 4" square bar or something worn out even.
Good luck, I will certainly work with the 6.9s on a SW if that day comes, as I feel they offer a trail ability to darting, and also offer 7" of float for the heavier 4s nose when the lake gets a dump of deep pow, the thing just holds nose high with headlight aiming to the sky at the tap of the flipper, sure alot different then the 5.7 ever did.

so dan when I get ready to replace my pilot ski runners with new carbides,go with the woodies 6" will be enough for 192 1.465 studs on this 137 ltx I have, does doo or woody make a 7 " or 8 " carbide for the 5.7 pilots?Yep wider, and the unique thing is the two carbides are further apart then the typical 5.7 that is running our trails and so you dont tend to follow those popular ruts as easily.

Lots of studs and 137 you likely want more....but depends how you ride too.so dan when I get ready to replace my pilot ski runners with new carbides,go with the woodies 6" will be enough for 192 1.465 studs on this 137 ltx I have, does doo or woody make a 7 " or 8 " carbide for the 5.7 pilots?
Woodys and DOO both make some bigger carbides for the pilots, just grab a accessory book from BRP or PM me and I will look for ya. You may be able to use a shaper on this chassie with the pilots, It might work well for what you seem to be looking for, but I tend to like a round bar myself.

Dan I have been running the 7.5 shaper with doo 5.7 on my 2013 cat,but may try these skis on my SW,i wonder if the woody slim jim dullie in 6" carbides will fit the pilot 5.7 I cant seem to find a set with the two bolt angled patten our 5.7 have, most slimjims run 4 bolt pattern, can you find me a set of the slimjims to fit my pilots in 6" thanks peteLots of studs and 137 you likely want more....but depends how you ride too.

Sure woodys makes SlimJims for the pilot. But IMO the slimjim is more to help with darting, and wont carve as nicely in soft.Dan I have been running the 7.5 shaper with doo 5.7 on my 2013 cat,but may try these skis on my SW,i wonder if the woody slim jim dullie in 6" carbides will fit the pilot 5.7 I cant seem to find a set with the two bolt angled patten our 5.7 have, most slimjims run 4 bolt pattern, can you find me a set of the slimjims to fit my pilots in 6" thanks pete
I would run the pilot with a 6 round bar, and if its not enough bite then go to the shaper. Im not a big fan of other items to reduce darting as they tend to push, and then also scrub top speed.
I wish I could remember what I ran on my cat procross with pilots, it very well may have been shapers. I know they worked very nicely on the cat turbo, where shapers on my 4tec doo are just too much and bring out the darting, but the doo chassie is more finicky to darting as many know.

well maybe I should just give them a try, sense they already have 7.5"shapers that now have close to 3,000 miles from my 13 LXR turdblow, and are still in nice shape,i will put a nice new edge on them before I ride with them,if I was to try the woody,s single carbide I think I would go with 9" if they make one,in round bar like you said.Sure woodys makes SlimJims for the pilot. I knew it was you Pete....just wanted to be sure. I know a few old friends screenames got messed up last summer, I was lucky to keep mine on HCS and here.Yes,not on purpose,my old puta crashed, and I was unable to reuse MNMSNOWBEAST,which is who I am,so its just SNOWBEAST,same guy from maine, and yes we were onto the same things back in 12-13 cat years Dan. Keep me posted bud! I am having a very hard time staying away from the new SW, Bens videos keep sucking me in. Having the big power like my cat had, without all the BELT life issues among other things, and a YAM engine to boot, sure is hard to stay on my NA DOO....and I just had my ECU tuned hoping to run with 800s this yr...grrrrr....SW makes the 800 power seem like a toy.lol
If BRP does not weigh into this turbo category SOON, I will be back over here I have no doubt...lol

Hey Rockerdan, life is short, get the sidewinder now. I,m sure someone else would love to have your doo.
Plus I would like to see what you would do with the new sidewinder, in case I upgrade to one next year. LOL

I must admit, if I had not just had my ECU flashed this offseason, and added the header and muffler mod. I may very well have been swayed over this season. My 1200 is so new still, very poor short season last yr so I will give her another season at least. I do love the 1200 bigtime. Just hard to not want the big speed though. Im lucky I ride with 800s only and all trail guys, Im the only speed junky in our group who wants the big power.lol
