Tuner 3 skis

You guys that say C A skis dart What model are you running? 2nd why do all the top Professionals riders run them if the where junk?

They are a very positive handling ski...for snow cross in the sugar snow...that's a must...

For us...it can be too much in certain situations...don't get me wrong...If you want point and shoot...and don't mind the arm work out at times...especially in tight trails and low speed...They are great...They are stiff and you feel all the terrain ...the ski doesn't flex

If you are one to always play with your suspension settings...this can be less of an issue because you can adjust out some issues and adjust in bite...but if you are set it and forget it and want an all around ski....You might be disappointed at times...

Now this applies to the rz which I ran on my 12' pc

For reference..I think the slp slt and mohawks will be far superior and a much easier to live with ski on a front heavy sled with their parabolic design and flexible keel

Testing both skis on 9k turbo cat's I felt the Curves turned better in loose snow. The C&A Razors Would bite but they seemed to have a slight push before doing so. The curves would bite instantly. The C&A's darted wicked and were much harder to turn. Now compared to the tuners. That soft snow that you find higher up on the turns the c&a and curves will ride right on no problem. The tuners will send you to the trees lol. Same can be said about the snow mound that can sometimes be found off the sides of the groomer drag. The aftermarket skis I could sit right on that mound and ride it like it was my own lane.

So my LTXSE comes next week.
I ride trails pretty hard and fast.
Last years sled was a Polaris 800 137" and I have stud boy 9" shapers on.
Drop everything like a dream.
I'm I nut to run 141 studs and twin 8" Woody executives?
Seems like people are using a lot less carbide.

For darting right? But not easier steering?
I think it will generally lessen the steering effort as well as help with darting, as it will lift the keel out of the hard pack snow enough to take the edge off . Then when the snow gets softer you sink in a bit more and start to use the whole keel again. Same principle works on the curves as well.

I run C&A Razors with dually slim jims. No darting at all. Easy steering even on super hard pack. And no push in loose snow. It essentially my holy grail setup.

You do realize that is 54"s of carbide, RIGHT ?
OK that may be,but you don't get all 54 inches biting at the same time, just one piece going straight ahead, and one when you turn one way, than the other when you turn back in the other direction,so basically you are carrying a lot more weight around all the time to see when and if they work correct,my next question to you will be,how do you like them, how hard do you drive, and if they are so good why don't everyone run them,i have not seen much for race reviews on them, and for that kind of money I would think anyone who bought them would be on here trying to sell them to anyone and everyone, just saying.

Toss a set of Slim Jim Duallys on the C&A skis and its an entirely different ski.
OK how about a pair of them slim jims on the tuner 3 skis,or studboy shapers?

Not really true. If you are speaking about a level flat surface then yes. When you go around a turn on a trail how often is that turn flat? Yes you are not using all of the carbides all the time but you for sure use more then just this one or that one. Another reason they last so long. You are not always grinding down just 1 8" long strip all the time. More weight... How much does that little strip of carbide really weigh? Everyone is too hopped up on weight w/everything. If you want to ride lighter don't stop for food and only ride with a t-shirt on :) and do like Mr. Sled (take lots of bathroom breaks in the day HaHa :p). Triple Points will also last 2x the amount of time vs the others + you get ski savers to reduce the wear on your keel(s). You get a 1/2" host bar and hard weld at both ends. If you do a search here or even at hardcore you will find many many topics about triple points. Now after having used them on my viper I would not advise spending the $ on them because I know you will not be happy in the end. The ski's fault not the carbides. My viper never darted with the triple points or with the stock junk 3" coat hangers that came on it. If you have tuner skis darting on a procross you must have some sort of alignment issue. Oh I also tried them shimmed and not shimmed. I saw no change. If you run hard snow or trails that don't have tight turns you will be fine with the tuners. If you ride twisty tight trails with soft snow plan on going slower then trying to push a cart through the snow at the super market lol. Or I suppose you could hang way off the side of the thing all the time. Just my 2 cents...

Why don't you hear about them? Bergstrom Skeg is a mom and pop operation. He builds/welds the carbides. Do you ever hear about racers or mag's promoting anything other then big name products? If you look at the mag's 1 issue talks the world of 1 product and the next issue again does the same thing about another one. I take all that talk in the mag's with a grain of salt. Hard to get a 'real' review when sponsors/advertisers are throwing $ at your company. Scot is a very nice guy and will even offer up his cell# for you to contact him with any concerns/comments that arise.

I called Scott last week and ordered up a set of 6" and 8" triple points for curve skis to try on my dad's and my winders this season. It will be interesting to see if there is any difference in handling with the 6" vs 8". I love the carbide/ski saver combo, but I will admit the $450 otd price for both does give you a bit of sticker shock. Then you add up what 2 sets of the other brands cost and you feel better. In the end I justify it by saying if I spent 15k on a sled + extra's then whats another $450.

I think I will just throw on my pilots 5.7 w/my old shapers 7.5 I ran for two years on my heavy procross cat turbo TD tuned cat,and be done with it,unless bergstrom makes a set of 7: for the pilots that may keep it from darting to bad.

Back on my cat turbo I loved my 5.7 pilots. I loved the pilots on my apex too. I am now running the 6.9 version of the pilots on my 4tec and think they are really amazing overall. I will definitely be keeping these 6.9s for a possible future SW, I think they would work very nicely.
