I used the Yamaha kit.Is quite a bit to it for heat protection.Worth $80 for sure if the heat protection is needed.Sure seems like its not but worth piece of mind I guess.

i left all my plastic on and just got a piece of diamond plate havent had any trouble yet

I vote for the factory closure too.
I figure if Yamaha could save a buck and not have to install the extra heat shields they would.
