Tunnel protector removal

A question for the guys that have removed their tunnel protectors. How do you remove the front 2 rivets without removing the exhaust or is that what has to be done?[/img]

Drill / use dremel from bottom side

I cut the protectors off as far foward as possible with a sawzall then carefully bend down the remaining pieces and cut the rivets off with a cold chisel. Be very careful however you do it, I saw 2 different guys just try to bend the protectors down to break the rivets and when the rivets pulled out they cracked the aluminum casting that the protectors are riveted to.

I took the exhaust out - which is easy - and drilled them out. Then I used a reinforced cutter on a dremel to cut the front welds off the cooler.

I used an air hammer w/ a 12" chisel bit
