STM for me. Full length (both the heat exchanger and the tunnel)Are you guys using the STM's or Yami/Cat protectors?

Here is my set up on my last years Winder.
I put 3500 flawless miles on it. Installed ski-Doo sliders on the tunnel coolers ( a bit of a task to stretch over. Heat and lube got it done). This now protected the the hose in front though. Then stock Yamaha/Cat rear heat exchanger protectors installed. Avoiding Center 1.5 inches of track when studding.
I spoke with Justin at FPP and he is now going to incorporate a longer protector on the right on his tunnel/rear heat exchanger kit to cover the hose in his next batch he makes. These are full length for 2. No Center. Center is really not needed. (See below).

I got my center protector out with a map gas torch, vice grip, hammer and chisel. Heat the protector up and wiggle it side to side till it’s loose the tap it out with the chisel and hammer. The heat will break down the glue.I put my center protector in,how would you remove it after it has been glued in any suggestions.

I found an older model ski doo slider to slide along the bottom of the heat exchanger - got it from Royal Distributing - but that doesn't do anyone in the US any good.
The main reason of doing this is to have the slider protect the hose at the front of the tunnel where it is fully exposed to ice chunks getting crushed and compressed against it. Failure of this hose- crushing, tearing, ripping - leads to a big head ache when out on the trail.

Having said that - Travis at Barn of Parts has designed a protector to be mounted underneath protecting this area. This wasn't in the mix when I installed the sliders on mine. Going to run the sliders this year and likely install his new creating next spring. My only concern with the full length sliders as protectors is limiting exposure of the aluminum tubing to snow dust - for cooling. Havent heard any complaints but then there are only a few guys doing it.

Would you know the part # or model of ski Doo of the slider you used ? Also do you have to glue them in or something?

I took a pic of the bar code. It is a Kimpex part.
I ran a dremmel bit on the inside to open it up so it could slide on easier. Still need heat, wd40 and a mallet. Worked well.

Just remember guys, the stock 1.25 lug track already rubs quite hard against stock setup. Shown in pic below how heavily track lugs rub. Im a fan of top speed, and I guarantee you will scrub off some speed if you add more thickness there with sliders. Now if you are doing it to run ultra long studs, i get it. But for coolant hose protection, there are better ways IMO.

Tracks on these need to be snug if your running big mph.

Agree, I run my track ultra tight always on all my sleds.
