The dealership in Grand Rapids last night told me that i couldn't stud my GT because there are not any tunnel protectors on it and they can't get them from anywhere. Now i know lots of guys are studding them, so whats the deal? I haven't actually looked under mine yet to see what is there. I picked up 144 megabytes anyways. What has everyone else been doing for tunnel protection?

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is exactly a tunnel protector? Is it some kind of cover for protection the radiator?

Thats what i tried telling them. The dude behind the counter even said he has an attak and isn't studding it... " i researched it for 2 weeks and couldn't find any info on where to get protectors". Thats pretty funny because i just got the info i needed in about 6 minutes. How hard is it for some of these dealerships to get this stuff right?

Two pieces of square stock aluminum running the length of the tunnel there to keep the track from slapping the underside of the sled. They also go over the front heat exchanger keeping the track from striking it also.
Here ya go:

And if that isn't enough protection take some teflon strips or as I use strips of King starboard material which is a plastic and pop rivet them onto the aluminum tubing and gain 3/8 to 1/2 inch more protection.( I run bigger picks) Make sure you bevel the leading edges.

Spent hour in that dealership today looking for a skid plate for my new ER. All I can say is Im glad I didnt buy my sled from them. They have no clue.
