Tunnel shine

I ended up using a product called "Heavy Metal" for my first round of polishing. I had it left over from my quad axle dump trucking days. It was the medium(green) abrasive step, it's a three step process, which cut pretty well. I was very surprised with the shine considering how bad my tunnel looked when i started. I have pictures but my computer is being a POS and not downloading them. My next step is to use the harbor freight polish kit($20). Then hand polish it again, then hopefully it will be good to seal. I know guys have used zoop to seal tunnels but has anybody used anything else that works good/holds up well??? I would like to go buy it vs order it online. Thanks[/quote

A fyi-zoop seal is now called shineseal and supposedly has a easier applying process then the past zoop seal.

Sorry for waking up an old thread, but I have a question for those of you that wet sanded your tunnel prior to polishing - how much of an issue are the zinc plated rivets...? Is there any risk that the sanding procedure breaks through the zinc plating of the rivets, eventually making the rivets rust...?

I just want to make it factory what should I use someone told me a product called purple. Anyone use this product or have any good tips for factory shine not mirror. I dont want to wet sand.

If the rivets are zinc plated aluminum then no, they will not rust.

The OEM rivets are zinc plated steel, they will for sure rust if something breaks through the zinc plating.

For those of you that did a proper wet sanding job before you polished your tunnel, is this an issue...?

I wet sanded and my rivets still look like new.
